In many years of travelling to Europe this would represent one of the real hidden gems. Although a 2 star hotel it is well located, reasonably close to a train station and on the edge of an attractive residential area. Trams go by the front door. For Euro 9.80 we were able to purchase from the hotel desk a day ticket for 2 people to travel anywhere in Munich. The hotel was about 10 mins from the old city centre. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed and the hotel has been renovated in the traditonal Bavarian style throughout, even to the extent of the murals on the external front wall. It is a family run hotel, and the owners speak English and are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent value. We highly recommend a visit to the restaurant Weinhaus Neuner, their specialty is Duck.

This hotel was not in the most convenient location. It was too far to walk to downtown, but we happily discovered the train was approximately 4 blocks away, and the tram was around 2 blocks away, so that really helped. The hotel was clean and we loved the bar area: it was nice and bright and the service was wonderful. Every night we enjoyed speaking with the bartender that was working there while we drank beer or wine. There were some bars and restaurants nearby, but they spoke no English (it was quite an adventure!). Our room was on a busier street, so at night it occassionally got loud. The breakfast was basic (cost extra) - breads, meat, cheese, with some cereal and yogurt, coffee, tea and juices. You could also order eggs. Our room was very basic (and quite small), but we were not looking for anything fancy as we just wanted a place to sleep and store our things while we wandered about.
We loved the people that worked there. They were so helpful and friendly!

The Hotel situated right outside the city center, beside a tram stop so its very easy to naigate around Munich. Found some of the people working in the reception to be cold, especially when asked about breakfast. Not served after 10am! But others behind the desk were extremely helpful.
Hotel rooms are very small and outdated but allow smoking

Pros: Close to public transportation (but nothing is within walking distance)

Cons:
1. Terribly small parking space. With extreme cautions, I still left a scratch on my rental car. This ended up costing me 500 Euros. Terrible experience. You'd better park your car in a paid garage.
2. A bit noisy at night because it is close to big street.
3. The bed frame has very sharp edge. We both got hurt on our knees.
4. Toilet stopped working.
5. Staff members are mostly friendly and helpful except the older lady. She asked me if I ate their breakfast on a certain day. This made me feel like that I had stolen their food. Ridiculous and unprofessional!!

Overall, very unhappy with this hotel. You'd better pay a bit more to stay in a better hotel.

Whilst this stay was a faultless experience - with some very quaint Bavarian touches...Look past the painted wardrobe and you see harsh, old carpets and white (scruffy) wood chip wall paper, plastic bathroom accessories and garish curtains.
I had to convince myself often that it was quaint, and not like an old fashioned 70's bedsit....
Very clean, very warm, friendly enough....Tram and 'S' train all within a few minutes walk.
Breakfast, although pleasant, a little chaotic at times as only one lovely lady juggling all balls!
So - IF you get a great deal it can be seen as value for money - if you are paying rack rate it may be a little annoying?....make sure you are in the right mood....

This was our first trip to Munich, the front desk personnel were awesome at giving us directions to places, as well as suggestions as things to do. The breakfast in the AM was a nice addition. The location wasn't bad at all, close to the train station and an easy taxi ride to city center, which the hotel staff called for us. Not as close to some beergardens as we had hoped, but the walk wasn't bad at all, it was beautiful outside and gave us a chance to see things we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Also access to internet in lobby, otherwise you could pay for it by the hour. Great Hotel!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights because free parking was available. Good for the price overall, but not 3 stars, more like 2.

PARKING:Since we arrived late; like 11pm on a Thurs, there were no more spots so we had to park underground right next to the hotel. It was 5 euro a night, not bad; but I was kind of expecting free. Watch out if you have to park down there, it's one of those w/ a mechanical elevators; watch your antenna because the roof is low.

STAFF: Easy checkin and out; staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

INTERNET: 1 terminal that was downstairs and free with printer.

ROOM: Small, older, but clean. Street side can get loud and there is no A/C, so summers may get hot in the room.

BREAKFAST: Ours was included and was great; included eggs, toast, meats, etc.

TRAIN ACCESS: Real short walk to get to the stop; like 1k feet. You can buy day passes at the front desk.
