“Great stay - would stay again”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Stayed in July 2012 with my husband and daughters (15 and 11). Booked one queen room and adjoining two twin bed room for the children. At the time of booking, they were offering the second room for the children at 50% off. Very convenient and welcome for our stay of seven nights.

Rooms were clean and comfortably furnished. Beds and pillows were comfortable. My husband and I especially liked the individual duvets/comforters on our bed. However, I did have to request the duvets be changed in our rooms after the first night as I found they may not have been laundered the best prior to our stay. This request was met with an apology and quick action.

Minibar in room had small area for personal items. TVs were dated and internet was wired only in the rooms. Too expensive for me to care to purchase but I understand these issues are being addressed very soon.

Lobby was very busy with families just seeming to sit around and many young unattended children running around and climbing on and over the furniture. The staff seemed a bit exasperated at this some times and tried (unsuccessfully) to have the parents regain order over their children.

We used the free internet terminals in the lobby each day. Seems that the morning was the best time to access - we were able to use each day with no problem and no waiting.

We ate in the bar/restaurant area a few times and were able to access the "Kids eat free" for our youngest daughter. Paninis were excellent and kid's meals were tasty, even for our picky eater. Service at the restaurant/bar was fantastic and very friendly. Did not eat at the breakfast buffet as the cost was higher than we wanted to pay for what we could eat for breakfast - it would have come to about $100 Cdn per day for us. Instead we picked up pastries at one of the food places attached to the hotel, and fruit and juice at the grocery store. Gas station next door was also great for purchasing snacks and water, and for exchanging large bills for us.

Excellent location, easy walking distance to many Munich attractions. Attached to the S-Bahn with a direct link to the airport. Very handy after a long overseas flight. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: If travelling with children, inquire about special rates for second adjoining room.

I stayed for three nights on business and found the restaurant very good. The best feature by far was the night porter who after I returned in a taxi which then would not take a card payment said don't worry and payed the bill and put it on my room a life saver!
The hotel could do with a revamp but the rooms are cleaned by a great team she hung all my cloths up as I had not had time it was like having the wife with me.
Great stay with no major issues

It's a Holiday Inn, staff were pleasant and efficient in all aspects... The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom was clean... The internet is a little pricy... The S-Bahn being underneath the hotel was extremely handy, but it was an easy walk to the Old City and some sights. No safety issues that I could identify and I was out at all hours of the night. EuropCar has an office attached the to Esso next door, and there is underground parking at the hotel, both extremely handy.

Room Tip: High rooms facing Old Town give a good view of the City, especially at night, so I'm told.

I selected this hotel due to its proximity to the city center which is within walking distance. The hotel seemed very busy at all times with many guests occupying the lobby area. Reception is small and waiting times long. Although mentioned on the booking, my request for early check in was not met without any prior notice so I had to wait another 4 hours after a long flight. As mentioned before, the internet charge of EUR 22 per 24 hours is prohibitive. I did not try the breakfast.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn from the 1st - 5th Sept 2012. Firstly, the location is very good. There is access to an underground station directly beneath the hotel which was very convenient and it is within walking distance of the Marienplatz. There is also a supermarket next to the underground station which proved useful.

The room was clean, spacious, well provisioned and pleasantly decorated, had a lovely view of Munich and the bed was comfortable. They even provided additional and different types of pillows as a free service. The hotel reception and bar were very pleasant areas as well with delicious coffee on tap! The hotel is very busy and goes all day which I didn't mind.

There were some drawbacks we experienced:
- Reception is slow
- No free Wi-Fi!
- On one occasion, our keycards did not work because the cleaning service had left their card in the room (Management did immediately replace our cards).
- We also found that the cleaning service did not always replace the tea/coffee/milk/sugar in the rooms so we'd have to call housekeeping who would immediately bring us replacements.
- Breakfast was not bad but the fresh fruit looked like it had been cut up some hours earlier and left out so I avoided it.

However, all considered, I would definitely reccommend this hotel as overall good value for money and consider staying there again!

The hotel building is one of the ugliest in Munich. Reception is always busy at this hotel. Waited well over 20mins each time to get service. Arrived mid morning after a long flight (over 24hrs) with a group where we had prepaid the previous nights accomodation to allow us access to rooms to freshen up before attending a congress. We arrived to find our paid rooms had been sold and no rooms were available for us to check in!! After a lot of negotiation rooms miraculously appeared, but it was poor service. Reception access is an issue as it is so busy it always took in access of 20-30mins to acess someone. Wifi is expensive and only available in the lobby area. Rooms are smallish but comfortable and relatively modern looking without being cutting edge. CRT TV was a shock with most hotels having a flat screen TV these days. The duvet cover on the bed was weird as it was too small to cover the bed area. Great breakfasts with lots of choice and easy connections to Marienplatz or the congress centre as the Rosenplatz S-Bahn station is located underneath. Limited storage available in the fridge and the sensor type so have to check the bill to make sure correctly charged. Helpful reception staff read out what was indicated as having been consumed from the mini bar. A Europcar rental office is located handily next to the hotel.

Dear Syd675,

thank you for taking the time to give as this review. We realy appreciate any kind of feedback.
I agree with you that our reception is often very bussy and sometimes it might take 20 Minutes to get help by one of our rectionists. For that reason we installed a Guest Relation Agent directly next to the front desk. As well a second helpdesk at the entrance to the car park and public transport. Futhermore we will have 2 self-service terminals for check-in and check-out from end of november this year.
Regarding the prebooked rooms for your group I m sorry to say that they were no-show and we didn't had the information from your travel agencie to hold the rooms and that it should be checked in for you the day before to have it available in the early morning. We apoligize for all that inconvenience.
With the end of September we will provid WIFI in all our rooms and lower the internet charges for WIFI and wired internet. Regarding the TV sets - the change to Flat-screens is planed for April next year. Once more thank you for your review and we hope you will chose our hotel once more if you will be in Munich.
Kind regards

Not surprisingly, for such a large hotel, the hotel was buzzing most of the time particularly the reception and foyer areas.

A major issue is internet access, Wi-Fi charge prohibative and although two free PC's are available it almost impossible to get access to them without a long wait. The hotel could easily overcome this problem by adding additional PC's, place notices requesting users restrict the amount of time they are at the machines or simply greatly reduce the Wi-Fi charge.

Room although well equipped was small. TV's very dated.

Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Superb swimming pool which was very enjoyable except on the occasions it was being used by groups of unruly unsupervised children.

Requested a quiet room on a high floor and delighted that this was available on arrival even though it was before midday when we checked in.

Great location for sightseeing.

thank you for taking the time to give as this review. We realy appreciate any kind of feedback.
