“Not the best value”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

I am a frequent traveler and like to normally book with Marriott online. Unsually, the front desk staff at this hotel was very casual and lacked the experience in dealing with the Elite Club members. The staff member did not offer the free wi-fi, which is the norm for Elite Members and even changed the room-rate that I got on the Marriott website. The hotel is quite far from the Marienplatz downtown Munich area, and hence is definitely not recommended for someone who is visiting Munich for a pleasure trip. However, as I am a Marriott fan, I would still like to close the review mentioning some positives : the rooms are modern, and the bathrooms are nice. The bar serves excellent chocolat fondant and the breakfast was of highstandard as well. The TV also shows some Arabic channels. However, the front desk staff needs more training and was a complete disgust to deal with! I would prefer to avoid this hotel, as even the Lufthansa shuttle stop is a little far if you need to tug your luggage around. Happy traveling!

Room Tip: My room faced the front side, but as the hotel is in a very quite neighbourhood, there was not much...

Stayed at this hotel during Oktoberfest. Our choice was between this Marriott and the Renaissance a block away. I had stayed at that particular Renaissance a while ago and it was not as nice as some of the others I’ve stayed at (I particularly like the New York Times Square Renaissance and have spent many nights there). I had been able to reserve a room at this Marriott about 4 weeks before we arrived, at a premium rate, as hotel occupancy was very high because of Oktoberfest. We arrive around 2pm and our king nonsmoking room was not ready. But after we refused the double bed room he had available for the 3rd time, he did another inventory check and one became available. The room was nice, comfortable and looked as though it had been renovated not too long ago (see pictures). I think the whole hotel was occupied with Americans, as that is pretty much all we saw the entire stay. The location of this hotel is not in the city center, but the subway is only a block or so away. We used it extensively, as all the places we visited are were not walking distance. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would return.

This hotel is not close to the city center, but the underground station is only a 5 minute or less walk away. During that short 2 blocks stroll, you will pass a bakery, a few stores and restaurants. You can take the underground train to different parts of the city. It's fairly easy. You can purchase a single ticket at the machine when you're at the station or you can buy a one day pass from the reception desk. Sometimes they may not have them available. If you buy from the machine, it does take credit cards. Follow the instructions in your choice of language. You can also take a taxi. There's yellow mercedes taxis that collect daily, all day and line up right in front of the hotel. Make sure you have cash because they don't take credit cards or like to anyway.... Cars park for a fee here and is charged by the day. They have a designated area for these cars. The empty lot next to the hotel is NOT a parking lot! Do not recommend parking there even if only temporarily.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel is wonderful. You have a variety of things to choose from and the dining atmosphere is clean and comfortable. There are a couple of other restaurants on the premises for lunch and dinner. One includes a sports bar. You can also dine at the lobby bar/bistro/executive lounge. Now, the lobby, siting area and bar/bistro/executive lounge is located directly out in the open once you enter the hotel doors. Not much privacy because you will be constantly distracted by guests coming in and everyone else going about their business. The hotel is nice, but the layout is a tad strange. The front desk staff can be indifferent. The rest were cordial and helpful. The business center is limited in regards to computers available, space and privacy.

A pool, fitness and health center is downstairs and is welcoming. They are free for guests. Since the hotel is established practically in a residential area, there isn't a whole lot to see or do. If you enjoy walks, great! If not, take the underground train, taxi or car and drive somewhere else.

The rooms were well kept and pleasant. No complaints! The size was decent and amenities were acceptable. At the Concierge, you can book tours around Munich, major attractions and Salzburg, Austria. Some pick up at the hotel and drop you off at the same.

The hotel staff is very unfriendly…almost to the point of rude. If we inquired about locations, room issues, directions, or food service, they did not appear eager to help. The hotel room was descent and clean except for the extreme slow draining shower. It was unpleasant taking a shower and standing in dirty water. The location of the hotel is not near the city center but it is easy to find public transportation. The breakfast was magnificent. There were many options to choose from.

Hotel has had many upgrades, rooms are chic, flat screen tvs, Siemens phones, nice bathrooms. Be aware that the hotel is next to a major highway and a room overlooking the neighborhood will be much quieter and have a more pleasant view. My room overlooked the highway and the soundproofing was impressive. The breakfast Buffet was the best I have ever had, and as an elite traveler with Marriott, I have had many! The baked goods are diverse, abundant and exquisite. The coffee, espresso, and latte variations were fantastic. The bread varieties multiple. This buffet was head and shoulders above the Renaissance down the street. Both hotels are located very close to the U station, providing access to all of Munich. Taking the U from the airport to the hotel took approximately 45 minutes.

Room Tip: Request to overlook the neighborhood, avoid highway views

Started the week at the Courtyard and wound up here. When you want to be in the fairgrounds, its a 10min U-bahn ride. But if you want to relax at a property that is nice quite neighbourhood, this is the place. They did a lot of upgrades since the last time I were a lot of familar faces, but some new one's as well and nothing shy of consument professionals. Of not was the F/B manager Hr. Schimt, even when it was total kaos, he remained collected made it all work. The room was well appointed and has a typical tiny washroom, but the room was comfy and spacious. The lounge/coffee shop is very nice and the sports bar Champions is as about western as it can get, except with Beyern is playing. Thy booming sound system lets you know the ball is moving. Even if you are not there for Oktoberfest, recommend the property for the function and feel.

Room Tip: When you make your reservation, make sure you annote any special requests and they will go out of th...

Comparing with other similar hotels around europe I found it very unworthy for the money.
I spent more than160€ for each night without breakfast and without internet.
The rooms was good of course but I suppose they should give more amenities for this rate.
