The Alte Pinakothek is a lovely building with a good, albeit small cafe. The collection is strongest in German art and well worth a visit.

Mostly dedicated to religious motives, all paintings show an extraordinary quality. In first floor, you can find most important European painters of XV-XIX century, including Durer, Rembrandt, Murillo or Boticelli. Have to go there.

I went mostly to see the Brueghel's but enjoyed the rest of the museum as well. As a bonus the entry is only €1 on Sunday so we saved €5 per person by going on Sunday afternoon instead of later in the week.

Definitely a worthwhile stop on your trip in Munchen!

beautiful building with spectacular staircase, and a world-class collection incl. cranach, durer, giotto, rafael, rubens and other names big and some smaller ones. the cafe in one of the side galleries is lovely. the best thing about the museum is that for a collection like this the place is nearly empty. want to spend some time before a davinci in an emty hall all by yourself?
