This museum is the first of three art museums all sitting next to each other. The old, new and modern pinakothek museums are all next to each other and you can get a pass to visit all 3 on the same day for 12 euros, which is what we did. I though this museum was the best, although the other 2 were very also good. It houses many wonderful paintings and the free audio guide which is available in many languages really enhances the experience. If you like old masters, Renaissance, Dutch and Flemish art this museum is a must see. Also don't miss the cafe -- it's a charming place for a light lunch, coffee, tea and cakes. Highly recommend this museum for art lovers!

This museum possibly has a corner on the Peter Paul Rubens market! Two whole rooms of them. We also enjoyed the rest of the 15th & 16th century German, Dutch and Flemish art. If you're looking for Italian, this is not your cup of tea--there is one Da Vinci and some Tintoretto & others, but the collection is a German one--and a good one. We would come back again. The audio guides help a great deal. The one criticism that I have is that the titles of the works are not translated into English (as they are in the New Pinakothek) and my German is pretty weak.

The Alte Pinakothek is just in forn of the Neue Pinakothek and maybe because we visited the Neue first (that it's very interesting) we didn't enjoied the Alte Pinakothek.
There are a lot on paintings but the authors are not very famous, in the Italian wing we were disappointed by the paintings that were not vey representative. The museum itself needs to be more modern and appeling for the turists.
