We loved going to see a Opera here, alone the stylish setting makes it a unique experience. Parking directly in the parking garage, restaurant just within a few meters walk

Maybe not as daring as Bayreuth, Brussels, Madrid or the Bastille, but you can always count on a solid, all-round great performance. Last one I saw was Tristan and Isolde which validated what I had always thought.
The building itself is very elegant, but seats can get a bit tight and the stage view may not always be the best but such is the case in every old opera house. They sell stand-up numbered places but also places from where you can only listen to the music and follow the score. These seats are very inexpensive.
Finger food and refreshments are available during the intermissions at normal prices for a theatre.Prepare to queue but they are efficient.
Also do dress up, even if it may get a bit hot, or you may feel out of place. The coat checks are free.

Steamed with history this Opera Building has presence as you would expect from its grand entrance with piers that are striking with command, the square is open that leads up to the front, part of Munich well worth the stop

We attended the compact Ring (over five nights). Great performances vocally and from the Orchestra. The direction was quite supreb in the first three operas but sadly he lost the plot in Gotterdamerung.
