The church is very well maintained and decorated. But for me, it was very so-so. I went in to see the floor tile called the devil's footprint. It sure makes for a good story. They were working on the front when i was there, so couldn't see all the exterior.

It was cold and snowing when we were in Munich, and I wanted to take my girls to see the glockenspeil. When we got to the area, we seen the church, and it was open, and also free to see. We went in to sit down, and warm up, and look at the amazing stained glass windows. There was also a huge grandfather clock, I would say 12-14 feet tall, still working, in the back behind the alter. We also seen an above ground burial sight of what I believe to be King Ludwig II. You could also go into the catacombs and see other relatives of the King, and popes of the time.

The Frauenkirche is the tallest building in the Altstadt (Old Town) and a few minutes walk from Marienplatz. The building was virtually destroyed in WWII and it has been expertly restored. Once inside it is surprisingly stark, bare white walls and pillars offset by beautiful stained glass windows.

This church in the centre of Munich has twin towers that dominate the city skyline. It is a quiet refuge quite near to Marienplatz.

If you like visiting churches then this one will not disappoint. Look out for the tomb of emperor Ludwig IV of Bavaria and the 'Devil's Footprint'.

Severely damaged in World War II, the interior of the Gothic style cathedral (Dom) has been restored in a very modern way. The stained glass windows are stunning. In the midst of a busy shopping area, the church is a great place to stop and take a breath, a long quiet one.
