Marienplatz is one of those places that if you're in Munich you have to go and see it. We were there a few times but never when the clock was in action. There are the ususal stores and cafes around the square with some smaller vendors offering fresh produce. It is a central point in Munich serviced by the train and it's easy walking from here to the Hoffbrowhaus and the markets which are fascinating.
