I just stayed here and everything I read the in the reviews was true. My room and bathroom were scrupulously clean and well maintained. Breakfast was terrific. The pension is in a great location but still peaceful. I'll definitely stay here again. Best of all, Christoph seems to really care that you enjoy your stay and your trip to Munich.

What a great spot to stay in Munchen! Christoph 'gets' it.......the place is really very nice, great lighting, bedding, clean, comfy, etc,etc....AND he is just so darn helpful....asks what you like to eat in the morning, gives perfect directions, suggestions, is patient, funny, smart, well-traveled and understands hospitality to a T! Can be a bit tough to find as thee street is a very small one ( off of a very large one though). Also a wonderful and super delish Afghani restaurant right downstairs...some of the best food we had, in 2 weeks in Europe, was eaten our first tired night---right there...what a way to start our holiday!

If you are looking for a decently priced place (in comparison to the expensive hotels) to spend a night or two in Munich and do not need a bunch of frills, the Pension am Jakobsplatz is a good choice. It is a converted apartment with four clean rooms and utility furnishings (not all have their own bathroom) run by a very friendly and helpful young manager. The evening surroundings can be kind of loud but things calm down soon enough and you'll get a good sleep. It is located near the center of the Old Town close to all the things you want to see while visiting Munich.

I stayed there only one night as a layover but it was enough to know that I would return again given a chance because though they have only 4 rooms, the rooms are well done and intimate with free wifi and good selection of breads for breakfast. Overall, it feels like you're staying in someone's immaculately clean and trendy home but minus having a host around all the time. I did not meet the other guests as well as I arrived at an odd time and work up late so I had my privacy and was at ease all the time.

I stayed in Room No. 2 and it was pleasantly furnished with a thoughful, modern design. My only gripe would be there was noise from the road but it could be because I am a very light sleeper.

Christoph accommodate my late check-in and made me feel like he could accommodate any request we asked. That was how good his service was and of course, its proximity to the main tourist area of Marienplatz and its pricing are key values to why this place would be my choice again if I am in Munich.

We had a great stay in this 4 room pension. Tucked away near the center of everything, the pension gave us easy access to all the sights. Christoph was a perfect host who provided great breakfasts and insightful guidance on what to see and where to eat in the center of Munich (all in fluent German, English and Italian!). Parking is 1 block away and reasonably priced - we never used the car until we left town. A great alternative to the large, impersonal hotels. Makes you feel like a local!

On the basis of the reviews on TripAdvisor, we booked this pension. Christophe has done a great job. The location is so good. It is so close to everything, yet we could driver right up to it, drop off our bags and park very close by at a public parking garage. Parking in the public parking garage was on 12 euros which was fair.

The rooms was clean and modern and very up to date. There was plenty of light in each of our rooms. Each room had a shower and there was a shared toilet but since it has only 4 rooms in total, that was not a problem.

The price was very fair for what we got, and much cheaper than anywhere else. In fact, we paid more for smaller towns.

Free wireless internet is available. There is a lift up from the ground floor. A tasty breakfast is provided.

You can't beat the location, so I would highly recommend it.

Pension am Jacobsplatz is still fairly new, so when we booked there were only a few reviews to go by, but we decided to give it a shot anyway. We were not sorry we picked this place! Our 3 night stay was virtually flawless, and what a great value. Our host Christophe made us feel right at home too.

The property:
Location is great. Right in the middle of it all steps away from Marienplatz, but still on a quieter street. The pension is located on the floor above the ground level (which would make it second floor in the US), which is nice. You can take elevator or just walk a flight of stairs. Everything is spotless clean and the decor is simple but elegant. You can tell it's brand new with no signs of wear and tear. Actually this is the first place i've stayed at that looked exactly like the pictures on its site! You can see the attention to detail everywhere. We stayed in room 4, with the fun wallpaper, and loved it. Even though the room itself is on a smaller side, the space is well used, and you can easily store all your language off the way. Our in-room bathroom was huge and comfortable. Hairdryer was a welcomed asset. Good water pressure in the shower, and a great shower head.

Food:
Again, simple but delicious. Christophe brought a good selection of fresh breads (yum), meats and cheese every morning. To compliment the bread we had butter and jams. I especially enjoyed the black cherry one. You must try it. Our host also made us coffee, and there were always fresh fruit and extensive selection of teas available. The common area was always open to us and had plenty of refrigerated water, beer and even a bottle of champaign you could buy! Free of charge you can help yourself to all the tea and fruit at any time. The electric cattle and tea cups are available in the dining room.

The host:
Christophe was great. He waited for us to arrive (even though we ran late) and was very welcoming. Immediately he gave us the map and marked the points of interests in the area, made great recommendations and patiently answer all our questions. He made sure to address all our needs and even tested our calling card for us from his own phone! We enjoyed his company very much.

Things you should know:
Jacobsplatz is a lovely pension, not a hotel, so there is no public phone or computer. I am sure you can ask Christophe to look something up for you in the morning if you need it. Hand soap is kindly provided, so all you need is your own shampoo. Because we only stayed for three nights we kept our towels and sheets, but i'm sure if you want fresh ones you can just ask.
