My buddies and I arrived in Munich at midnight. We walked to the hotel tired and excited to go to sleep. By the time we got to the hotel is was about 1 am. We went into the lobby and found nobody at the front desk and heard a loud snoring coming from the adjacent room. We dinged the bell on the desk... nothing. We dinged it a few more times... nothing. We walked into the other room and found the man sleeping in a chair. "Excuse Me!" we yelled. He responded with a loud and obnoxious snore. Eventually, we were forced to grab the man's foot and shake it quite vigorously to wake him. He walked to the desk and sat down at his chair looking quite annoyed. I then began to ask him about our room. He didn't understand. "No english." I thought. Seems a bit odd for somebody "working" a front desk. Luckily, I've had some experience in Germany and understood that some people don't like to speak English. Also luckily for me, I had studied a couple of years of German. I then proceeded to communicate with him in German, but still he couldn't understand me. It must be my accent. After all, Bavarian is different from normal German. I pulled out my phone in order to use Google Translate. I translated a few words. He looked at my phone, confused. He grabbed my phone out of my hands and changed the language to Bulgarian. Are you kidding me?! You don't even speak German?! This has to be a joke. He then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have a room for us, even though we booked one on Expedia and I showed him the conformation. The man also excused himself from the conversation twice to use the restroom and get a drink of water. After about two hours, my friends and I were about to strangle the man and we took our business elsewhere. We walked into the lobby of another hotel and I asked the man in German if he spoke English. He responded, "Of course." We just laughed.
