Cavos opened in November in the Reitschule, in Schwabing, where the other hip Munich Greek restaurant Kytaro used to be (Kytaro is now on Prinzregentenstrasse). Cavos Taverna is owned by the guys who also own Paros in Haidhausen.
Since Kytaro moved out, the whole building has been renovated. Seating is much better as (thank God) are the toilets!
The manager at Cavos, Evangelos, is such a great host. He is friendly, attentive and makes sure his staff offer amazing service. They offer traditional Greek food at extremely reasonable prices (e.g. enormous plate of gyros for 9,80 EURO). Beware when they start plying you with ouzo - you are in for a terrible hangover!
The place is pretty big but gets full up quickly on weekends, so it is worthwhile reserving a table. After about 11 pm the music gets cranked up and the guests start dancing on the tables, whilst the staff throw serviettes everywhere. This is a real party atmosphere and a great place to go for a good night out.
They will soon open a champagne bar in the garden, which can also be rented for private parties. In the summer they will have a beautiful garden and terrace overlooking the Englischer Garten - which will be the perfect spot to spend your warm evenings.
This place is set to be one of the top party places for the Munich In-Crowd.
