Perfectly located for Oktoberfest and train station no frills but very comfy and as a place to kip that's all you need. The breakfast was what it said nothing special but filled a gap. The staff were welcoming and with bars within a few minutes walk a night cap is easy to find

Just spent 3 nights here during 1st week of the Oktoberfest (sept 2011). There were 6 of us and we had pre booked two rooms. You can't beat this place as its so close to the main railway station and only 10 minutes walk from the beerfest site. Rooms basic but clean, you do have to share toilets and the shower but we didn't find any problems with this, Tried the breakfast one day, typical european stuff, rolls, cheese, cold meats etc, not really our thing so didn't bother again. Cost roughly £100 each for 3 nights during Oktoberfest which for the central location was brilliant. Other reviewers say its a dump, but it really isn't. Would use again on next trip to Munchen.

Room Tip: They do rooms for 1 person up to 4 people I believe.

I went to Munich w/ a couple of friends for Oktoberfest 2010 and we arrived on a Tuesday before the final weekend, with no reservations. While everyone told us how dumb that was, we luckily found this place (our 4th attempt at finding lodging) and it was a great location...across from the train station, situated right between Theresienwiese and Marienplatz (close walking distance to both). The prices for the pension during Oktoberfest was around 55-65 euro pp/pn, expensive, but still, by far, the cheapest quote we received from all 4 of our attempts at finding a place to stay. Rooms came with a breakfast, as perfectly described by Banksman, except I didn't mind it so much because I wanted to save money for the Fest beers and food. The rooms were decent and the sheets were clean. It was a shared bathroom for most of the rooms, however one night we got transferred to the big room w/ private bathroom (that one was 65 euro pp/pn). Being transferred was our fault because we didn't reserve our entire stay. The shared bathrooms were kinda gross, the toilet was okay but the bathroom had a funky smell that you couldn't air out and it was there for our entire stay...so you have to just handle your business and get out . The showers were okay, it had hot water, so that's all we needed. Finally, be sure to request a room NOT facing the street, sirens and street/crowd noise all night. If you're on a budget but you insist on staying in centre city Munich, this maybe your best option...it was pricey, but likely because of the festival. For Oktoberfest, I would recommend, otherwise, it would be wise to see what else Munich has to offer, as far as rooms are concerned.

I think this place is probably more deserving of the tag “hostel” rather than hotel.

I’ll start with a good points – it’s very central. It’s a really short distance from the main station and no more than about 10 minutes walk from the Oktoberfest park. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk 200 yards you find a taxi rank, if you walk the other way for the same distance you find a nice Bavarian pub doing some good food with a friendly atmosphere.

The final good point (I think) is that it was £55 per person per night during Oktoberfest. I think this may be pretty good although a friend did the booking so I don’t know if cheaper places were available.

So, the hotel. Firstly, the reception staff were always very friendly apart from the first day where I asked the woman on reception (quite reasonably) if we could have proper sized towels for me and my friend in our room. The towels they provided were no bigger than hand towels and they were very old and warn. She stated that “we are full up and we don’t have any big towels left”. Incredible. You’ll have to choose which buttock you want to dry – you won’t be able to do both with one of those towels!

That brings me on to the shower. Considering the shower and toilets are shared between 5 of 6 rooms each you’d expect them to be stunning. Think again. The shower door comically had “Bad” on the door. It was. The shower curtain was hanging off the rail, the shower was old, and it generally felt dirty in there.

It’s situated on a busy junction so every window of the hotel is a window to noise pretty much all of the time. Sirens outside, traffic rattling across the tram tracks. Sleep with the window closed!

The carpet in the room was the kind of carpet you’d find in an office – hard wearing, but shallow pile.

To be fair the beds were pretty good. They looked quite new and were comfortable. Is it just me or do pillow seem to differ in every country? You got one massive square pillow which worked quite effectively when folded over.

Breakfast: What is it with continental breakfasts? They always seem to be terrible. I can basically name everything available each morning: Rolls (not particularly fresh), butter, a selection of jams, sliced cheese, two or three different salamis or distinctly uninspiring cold meats, two types of cereal, milk, tea bags and fresh coffee (to be fair, the coffee was really nice and you got cream with it if you wanted). That was breakfast. I want to just forget about it.

I’d recommend you look elsewhere, people….

If it wasn't for the convenient location to Munich Hauptbahnhof and the fact I was visiting Munich I would have been on the first train out. A double room, no toilet, no tv, no mini bar/fridge and the stench of cigarette smoke that permeated the whole place made it the second most expensive place but definitely the worst place I have ever stayed in. I thought I was getting a saving by sharing the toilet on the floor, yeah the saving was 2 euros, this I only realised after signing the bill. The breakfast that was included in the price was a joke. Bread and cheese with bad coffee. The woman had the nerve to start packing it all away at 9.30am and as inadequate as this breakfast was I requested her to return what little there was on offer just so I could make a lousy cheese roll. To call this place a hotel is ludicrous, even calling it a Pension is an insult.
