Description: This restaurant opposite the “Centralstation” has always been a part of the Eden Hotel Wolff since its foundation in 1890 by Carl O. Wolff, a salesman from Plauen. The hotel as well as the beautiful dining area in Art Nouveau soon became a fancied venue for the elegant Munich society. Unfortunately massive bombing of the area around the central station during the last months of the Second World War caused serious damage to the hotel and restaurant. Thankfully the restaurant was able to reopen in 1948; the hotel followed in the year 1950 in connection with the Oberammergau Passion Play. The origin of the former name “Zirbelstube” was due to the use of arolla pine which can still be found in the restaurant giving it its cosy atmosphere as it remains in its natural colour shade. The “Tonne”, an arch-styled side room of the restaurant adapts the well known Bavarian down-to-earth mentality with its classic interior. In the back of our restaurant you will find the “Rembrandt Room”. It is the only part of the hotel which survived the chaos of the Second World War without damage whatsoever and displays the exact same beauty as it did in the founding year of 1890. The “Rembrandt Room” offers the perfect and dignified surrounding for any family festivity or important business meeting under the eyes of the noblemen portrayed. The highest priority is the quality of the food. That applies to the product itself as well as to the preparation. A high value is set on using seasonal products which are cooked with lots of creativity and craftsmanship. Wherever possible it is the kitchen's aim to use regional products as personal contact to farmers and suppliers are cultivated. The daily preparation, in combination with first class products, guarantees the highest quality possible. The increasing proportion of the meat on the menu is obtained from calves and cattle raised naturally in regions near Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm.

“A nice surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2014

To be honest, the only reason my family visited this restaurant was because it was attached to the hotel we were staying in (Hotel Eden Wolff). We weren't expecting much from a hotel restaurant but we were exhausted from traveling that day and were looking for something easy.

We were definitely pleasantly surprised! The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and the service was fine.

The restaurant is located across from the Haupbahnhof and is convenient if you have a wait at the station and want a nice dinner. If you're staying elsewhere in Munich, I probably wouldn't recommend seeking out this restaurant. However, if you're staying in the Hotel Eden Wolff or have a wait at the train station, I'd say go for it.

“Disappointed tourist”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2014

I was attracted by the Zirbelstube frontage of a traditional Bavarian restaurant but was disappointed to find that it was the Eden-Hotel-Wolff restaurant. It did not have the ambience of a traditional restaurant but was a typical international hotel dining room catering for the business traveller.

The food was reasonable as was the service in a perfunctory way. The menu was not exciting. I did not find the portions over-generous.

This restaurant clearly satisfies many travellers but I found a much better choice in the town centre. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

“Pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014

We chanced upon this restaurant while making the long train trip from The Netherlands to Italy. It was outside the central station and we had a lot of luggage, so it was very convenient. On our way in the door, an Englishman leaving spontaneously told us it was an excellent restaurant, so we had high expectations.

We ordered the roast pork and the duck, and both were delicious and filling. We almost didn’t have dessert because we were so full, but then decided to have an apple strudel each anyway! The meal kept us going throughout the overnight train to Florence.

The staff were polite and efficient, although it was confusing having the two waiter alternate the whole time. The atmosphere was cosy and the dining room is attractive and nicely appointed, as someone else has said already. It was good to have somewhere to put our luggage while we ate, without feeling like we were bringing down the tone of the place.

It was a bit more expensive than we might otherwise have chosen for a meal en route, but it was very enjoyable.

“Always a good meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2014

This restaurant is opposite a side exit from the main railway station. We often have dinner there when staying at the nearby excellent King's Hotel Center which does not serve dinner. The food is freshly cooked, and portions are large. Service is friendly, in an attractive wood-paneled dining room. Prices are reasonable for food, beer and wine.

“Good traditional Bavarian fare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

Popped in for a late-ish dinner after trawling the streets for more than a fast food joint. Menu was appealing with local dishes and it didn't disappoint. Staff were pleasant enough although it did prove rather difficult to get their attention even though restaurant wasn't overly busy. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
