Description: The Sansaro is a traditional sushi restaurant which is devoid of Asian kitsch. There is a long table in the middle of the restaurant which is suitable for large parties. The décor has a lot of wood, the appearance is modest and simple and the lighting is chic. The chef prepares excellent sushi which goes down very well with the clientele of business people, students and hipsters. The staff are friendly and helpful. After savouring your sushi why not try an organic beer? The Sansaro also offers a good selection of wine and japanese drinks, carefully selected to acclaimed kitchen. In the summer sit and out and enjoy the leafy terrace area.

“You can find better”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

The food is just ok, there are better Japanese restaurants in Munich. The waiting time was way too long, tables are reserved for 2 hrs only (they kick you out after 2 hrs!!). The food was just ok, my tuna sashimi was not well cut, it was the first time I had to take out some "glibber" out of my mouth :-( I won't go again.

Dear Uweee,

whenever something doesnt appear to be perfect, please do contact us on our homepage on the contacts page or on facebook, so we can follow up. Sushi is a delicate process, every meal may be different (handmade) and we want to see, if something didnt go well in our restaurant on one specific day.

However, if you know a better place for great sashimi in munich - please do let us now....! ;-)

“Authentic Japanese hidden away from the crowds”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Hidden down the end of an ally in Schwabing, Munich is a great find for Japanese food lovers. Good service, quiet and open environment with floor seats next to the windows. Food is good, covers the main groups of Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Udon and side dishes. Sure to be great outside in the summer afternoons / evenings.

“Fresh and tasteful”
Reviewed November 14, 2012 via mobile

Good but hidden restaurant in a very friendly atmosphere. All was very fresh but in my opion the rice was a little to sweet therefore xxx instelde of xxxx.
However go for the crispy salmon roll anyway. Good selection of Bavarian bio beer. The selection of sake is exciting.

“Modern sushi”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Sansaro delivers great sushi/sashimi in a courtyard environment.
Your first challenge will be finding the restaurant. It is located in a courtyard behind the university buildings, the street address gives you the starting point. In the summer tables are laid out in the courtyard which is picturesque.
The menu is limited to Sushi/Sashimi and a couple of other dishes. Hot dishes aren't really catered for, but if you are hear for the fish, yo won't be disappointed.
We went for the large sashimi to share, and some rolls. the sashimi was beatifully presented with a real attention to detail with a wide range of fish, many different varieties. The squid pieces were wrapped in a cone shape around the flying fish roe. The tuna was 'Toro', not sure if that is typical, but it really melted in the mouth.
If you are looking for a modern take on Sushi/Sashimi, then Sansaro is well worth a visit.
