Dillinger's turned out to be a really great pub!
Finally a proper pub and not a Bavarian style beerhouse! I wouldn't choose this place as a "restaurant" though, as it can be a bit noisy and the atmosphere is totally pub-like etc. But if you want to grab a beer or two, and possibly eat, in a relaxed pub environment with friendly staff, this is your place!
The crowd seemed really mixed. From young students to middle-aged couples. All relaxed, casual and clearly coming there to enjoy the place. Didn't really notice any dodgy characters as in some of the local pubs.
You can choose to sit in the bar section at the front of the pub or at a table. The high vault ceiling makes the place a bit noisy, especially towards the back. On the other hand, the high ceiling together with their ventilation makes it so that your clothes don't pick up the (greasy) smell of food as in some smaller pubs.
Like all the good places in Munich, it got really busy between 7 and 10 pm. If you want to sit at a table during the busy hours, consider making a reservation. Arrive early after work (around 5 or 6) and there should be plenty of space.
The burgers we tried were great! And we got our food in about 10 minutes from ordering! Wow! This was during the busy hours so I guess they were making heaps of the most popular dishes in the kitchen. I could imagine if you order something fancier you might have to wait a bit during rush hour. Their steak list looked really good, and decently priced (between 12 and 16 euros). I'm going to try one of those next time.
The drink selection seemed okay, several different whiskeys etc. Normal priced beers, imported good stuff like Laphroaig was around 7 euros. Service was great and friendly. Most of them spoke German, at least one of them quite fluent in English.
I'm thinking this is going to be my "local pub" to have a beer (and perhaps food too) every now and then!
