Description: With its Bavarian cuisine the Wirtshaus Ayingers embodies lively inn tradition at a historic site. From original Munich 'Weisswurst' and roasts to fresh fish from nearby lakes - we serve fresh and creative dishes in the heart of Bavaria's capital. Of course no meal is complete without the exquisite beers from the family-owned brewery in Aying. Six draft beers are available daily. The furnishings are rustic and cosy, and 140 seats provide lots of authentic "Wirtshaus" character. Eighty additional spaces are available on the patio in the summer. Yes, this is traditional ambience - but that does not mean doing without modern conveniences: Free wireless LAN means that business or private matters can be attended to directly.

If you are very hungry and want huge servings of beef, venison, pork knuckle or schnitzel washed down with tankards of local beer, try here. This place is not for the faint-hearted or vegetarians or anyone with special dietary needs. A man on the table next to us had enough meat on his plate to feed a family of four. Would you call this "hearty" and "rustic" or off-puttingly gross?

Reservation more or less essential; they are very busy indeed and kept turning people away when we were there. Service is speedy and friendly.

I have rated it 4* very good, but personally I think that's too high. I had the worst salad ever, anywhere in Europe (drowning in acidic dressing and a real lashed-up mess in presentation), and of the only two fish dishes on the menu, again there was enough for two adults with all the other stuff on the plate. However, if you want more normal-sized portions, I guess you're in the wrong city and probably the wrong part of Germany!

Just opposite the HofBrauhaus you can find a nice restaurant that usual tourist will not go because they will go to HB......
So it's a perfect spot to escape from the terrible HofBrauhaus tourist trap.
Good beers, good food.
What to ask more?
Reservation is a good idea because it's a small place. Expect to eat at the bar if you're alone.

This place is located across the street from Hofbrauhaus and offers exceptional food and service. We walked through Hofbrauhaus but it was very chaotic and none of the servers were welcoming so we decided to eat across the street. I had amazing pumpkin soup and my husband loved the white sausage. The outdoor seating was lovely on a perfect fall day, but the best part of this place is the staff. Our waiter was so much fun and engaging! He spoke excellent English.

Directly across the plaza from the world famous, over visited, tourist trap called the Hofbrauhaus sits this perfect little gem with tons more character, far better service, significantly better food and own-brewed classic beer. If you really want to experience German service, food and beer at its best, take the time to visit Ayingers. You'll enjoy it and not feel like you were scammed by chubby men in their funny leather pants.

Definitely a gem in Munich. Food was outstanding, service is polite and friendly, and beer, of course, was outstanding. However, I would recommend getting a reservation if you plan on going there at prime dinner time.
