Our visit to the Aumeister for an evening dinner inside the restaurant with friends proved excellent in every way. Known for its Bavarian duck, red cabbage and knodel, three of us (including our Bavarian friend) went native. The cream of asparagus soup, also typical for the season, was perfect, and I have tasted quite a few over the past years. Served with courtesy and professionalism, immaculate and charming (gemutlich!), the Aumeister did not disappoint. It's location near the Englischer Garten and its beer garden give you an excellent reason to visit for lunch, a weissbier and snack or for dinner. Highly recommended....we loved it.

In summer one of the nicest beer gardens in Munich. The restaurant in Winter is very cosy and the decor is reminiscent of a hunting lodge. The menu is compact but adequate and there is a choice of game available.
The service is efficient and friendly. The only comment is that the wine list is a bit limited - but one must bear in mind that this is Munich and beer takes pride of place - and very good it is to !
I can certainly recommend this establishment

After a long walk the length on the gardens was a very refreshing stop! Good food, beers, pretzels all at reasonably priced. Full of germans too so always a good sign!

Nice atmosphere, good food, (dark) beer and service with plenty of outdoor tables at the North end of Munich's English Garden.

It's probably easy to be overwhelmed by the choice of biergartens in Munich - there are so many close to the centre that many visitors won't venture out into the northern parts of the Englischer Garten. Big mistake ! Set in beautiful woodland, this restaurant is really worth a visit. You should walk a while, if only to build up your appetite for the delicious food.....
We couldn't sit in the garden (it was raining), but the restaurant is also worth visiting in bad weather. It has a series of attractive, wooden-panelled rooms with a very welcoming, cosy atmosphere.Although it was busy, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The seasonal dishes were excellent ( we were there at "asparagus time") and the classics of schnitzel and duck were really wonderful. Yes, you can enjoy the beer, but there are also wonderful wines on offer ..... and there's a playground for kids too ! Highly recommended.
