“Traditional Bavarian in quiet old-city location”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

This restaurant is located only about 20m from the busy Tal shopping area, but it feels much more.

The ambience is more relaxed than the busy beer halls nearby and there's a quiet forecourt for an alfresco wheat beer or wurst. The food was towards the upper end of beer-hall cuisine in terms of selection and quality - traditional Bavarian fare, tasty and filling. Special note should go to the excellent staff who, when not spotting mistakes in my beer and food ordering (accidentally ordered low-alcohol wheat beer) were sprinting off towards Tal to return a customer's forgotten coat.

I was only in Munich for a week, but as so satisfied, decided to return on my last day.

“Traditional Austrian cooking”
Reviewed March 28, 2014 via mobile

This charming restaurant is tucked away down a side street on the edge of the city centre. The tables are wooden with linen tablecloths; some smaller tables and one the length of the room. The character of the room with hard floors and despite the fresh tulips on each table is slightly austere. The service though was friendly and impeccably good and the quality of the food was of a very high standard indeed. Despite a healthy appetite I was almost defeated by a generous and delicious dish of pork and dumplings. The beer too is excellent. An outstanding restaurant and excellent value.

If you want to taste traditional bavarian food this place is a must. Next to Tal, every day it is packed by locals if this means anything....

“Delicious”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

Last year we had just a few days in Munich. Zum Duernbraeu was the highlight of the visit. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, and friendly servers. Can't wait to return.

“Excellent service, best bavarian food in Munich!”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

As a Bavarian with a group of Americans and Columbians I must say that the food as well as the service were absolutely excellent. Our waiter Andreas offered the best experience and gave us a lot of information about all sorts of traditions and entertained the whole group greatly. Also extra wishes (of which we had many) were no problem at all.
Thank you,
Oliver
