“Welcome break from Marianplatz”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

We stopped here hopefully that we could get a table on a Saturday evening for a break from the beer halls. Unfortunately for us they were fully booked for the evening but they were will to accommodate us on the understanding that we vacated our table at 7.50 to allow the table to be ready for 8pm. The food was typical hearty Bavarian food and to a good standard. This is only a 5 minute walk from Marianplatz and worth a visit if you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the beer hall and Christmas markets.

“Great setting, good food, good service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

After wandering around trying to find a place that wasn't too crowded or too loud, we came across this magical-looking place on a quiet street no-car street. (The outdoor fairy lights are very nice.) Good sauerbraten, very good potato soup. We sat outside at night in late October -- unseasonably warm the week we were there -- and so can't comment on the inside of the restaurant. But our outdoor experience was very good, especially compared to what we thought we were going to have to settle with at a boisterous beer hall.

“Average food, friendly service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Dined here 11/7 as it was recommended on Trip Advisor & only 1 1/2 blocks from our hotel. My husband & I each had a different pork dish. His came with salad & mine with slaw. My slaw was excellent. The pork dishes were average tasting comfort food. I knew it would be traditional Bavarian fare but had hoped it would taste more spectacular.

The ambiance was nice & traditional Bavarian with lovely stucco archways, dark wood, wall mounted antlers. They clearly had a loyal local following. We stopped in at 6 & were told they needed our table by 7 pm for a reservation. The service was friendly, prompt, not rushed, and very welcoming.

If you want to dine at a restaurant near the Marienplatz (out of convenience,) that is not touristy, & the ambiance & service are more of a priority than the quality of the food, you might enjoy this option.

We however would not return. I would rather grab a beer & wurst at a beer garden.

“great food, great service and outstanding staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

Eight of us ate here on a Sunday night in October. What a pleasant experience and great German fare. The location is perfect, too. We all ordered different dishes, and everyone raved! As a side note: I had suffered a very bad burn on my finger several hours before dinner. Seeing this situation, the owner (Claudia) applied medicine and wrapped my burn. The pain subsided immediately!!! She reapplied the salve before we left! How kind! More importantly,we all enjoyed outstanding, traditional German food for our first night in Munich! We will recommend this restaurant to all who visit Munich. Be sure to make reservations!
