“We enjoyed it enough to return”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

My wife, son and I really loved it here. We went on the recommendation of the folks at our nearby hotel. The atmosphere was very inviting and the staff extremely welcoming. It was so good we returned a second night. We all ate various pasta dishes and none of us were disappointed either night we went. The restaurant had a good wine selection at reasonable prices. The owner's daughter was there both evenings and was very kind and engaged. The service was top notch and the prices were very affordable.

“Delicious!!!! Loved it!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

Day 3 of our 6 day trip to Munich and we've eaten at Mario's twice and plan to return. It doesn't look like much from outside, but is cozy and surprisingly spacious inside. They even have a large courtyard inside. The Cannelloni is amazing! The perfect meat, cheese, pasta ratio. They have a cute custom built wood burning pizza oven in the front of the restaurant. It gave the cheese a wonderful crispiness. The staff is very friendly, perhaps a little overly friendly, but better than being aloof. My friend and I split the cannelloni twice and it was the perfect amount for two. The Chianti was tasty and reasonably priced. They seem to do a brisk trade in carry out pizza to locals. I plan on trying the pizza before we leave. Loved it!

“Fake italien”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

A friend suggested this restaurant, so i felt safe to go. The food is not good at all. we had risotto, pizza and pasta. Last time I ate italien like this, was in 1987 (or something). Totally obsolete, old-faschioned

“AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

A den of thieves. All are in cahoots (a mischievous coordinated behavior), beware both locals and tourists alike. This was one of very few restaurants open on January 1, and the hotel we stayed in in Munich recommended it. The attitude of the waiters was immediately suspicious. They wanted to "read" the customer, and they "read" us well, as tourists....but not average ones. We know a good place from another. The way several of the waiters behaved was very suspicious, telling. We asked for risotto... yes.. what a crazy idea, no? Risotto in an italian restaurant? Well, when we returned the plate because it was a "mass of flavorless rice", the experienced waiter had the nerve to say: "Well, a risotto takes 20 minutes to make..... and this one only took 10". What????! To make a long story short, when the bill arrived, we were charged EUR4.50 for a sliced tomato!!!! The waiter recommended a wine that was not on the wine list, he was very pushy, and I yielded to his suggestion. A sweet, poor quality wine supposed to be the "best in the house". It was again, a trick. It was very likely a very cheap wine for which the margin is huge. Deceiving and intentionally wrong-doing. Again, when paying the bill, we left the tip in the voucher. The waiter came back with an unintelligible argument saying that he had "cancelled" the tip or something of the sort.....all to "try" to take advantage of us. The "manager" or "owner" was sooooo surprised..... BS. He was well aware of the shoddy, shady, tricky ways of the waiters. Therefore, a den of thieves, they are all involved. If you want a pizza and nothing else, it may be fine. But NOT A RESTAURANT. Period.

“Good food, great patio”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

We ate at Bei Mario twice while visiting Munich, which underscores how much we enjoyed the experience. We were there during summer, so being able to sit in the spacious patio was a plus.
