We came to this restaurant to watch the Dortmund - Munich soccer match because of its beautiful outdoor Beer Garden however due to the rain we decided to move indoors. At first it seems as though you're walking into an old wooden Bavarian tavern, but as you move deeper into the restaurant the mood and atmosphere change. The rustic furniture and log walls gives the impression that you're alone in an old log cabin.
The restaurant boasts a "surprise" which happens at 19:45 and 21:00, which is interesting to see. If you want to know about the surprise then read the next paragraph otherwise skip it and go experience it for yourself.
Bascially a thuderstorm hits the restaurant and all the lights flicker, the sound of thunder cracks, the lights go out, then rain starts to pound the ceiling. The rain pellets beat hard against the ceiling, another loud band and the lights flicker on again. Then water begins to run and the water fountain explodes. After 3 minutes, the show is over and service resumes.
The service was exceptional, no complaints! The food on the other hand was less than great, barely making an "Average" rating. I had the hamburger with fries and salad (€9.80). Although you couldn't wrap your hands around the burger because of its enormous size (+), the buns were burnt (-) and the fries were thin (-) and under cooked (-). The salad needed work too as it didn't taste as though there was any dressing (-). For a traditional Bavarian dish, I had expected thick fries/potato wedges. My girlfriend had the Schnitzel, which looked very good but with the same type of commercial-supermarket bought french fries.
I would only return for the Beer Garden.
