First time I choose this Hotel because of its location, the location just "next" to Neuschwanstein Castle, but in term of "next", its actually below [U must take a little circular road to go down to the hotel].

If you want to stay in this Hotel and carrying a BIG bag like us, I recommend using the horse carriage though it cost u more [6 euros by horse, 1.8 by bus], because the horse carriage just outside the hotel. In our case, we took the bus, so we really struggle reaching this place.

Our review bout this place :
Comfort : 9/10 : Castle / decorated room, we arrive in this hotel exhausted from France, but we really had a nice rest here. very clean room, big enough for two of us.
Bareakfast : 10/10 : Everything here is so FRESH ! the egg, the bread, cheese, and the juice, everytime the food was refilled.
Staff : The staff so nice, they're helpfull, the male [i forgot his name] help us asking his manager whether we can take our food upstairs, because my wife was sick, the female one [i forgot too..] was so nice, always serve us with a smile on her face, although she was very, very busy
Location : If you prefer Neuschwanstein castle over Hohenschwangau [like us], you will love this place, although the only drawback is if you want to book the entry / tour to Neuschwanstein, which is only a step away, you must go down to ticket office, and go back to this castle.
Many people prefer staying near the ticket area, so they can buy the ticket and go both castle.

Overall, I recommend this place, Nice Atmosphere, very, very nice breakfast, nice decorated room. will be staying here again if I go back here to try the Paragliding.

The first thing that struck me and my girlfriend when staying here was the amazing location, nestled at the foot of neuschwanstein castle itself, it affords a sense of being a VIP. As a previous reviewer mentioned its wonderful to be able to go up to the castle grounds at night . The service here was fine but the food at the restaurant was just average.
The rooms seemed to be styled differently, ours was very cosy. All in all the value for money here was great compared to some other places around and it offers more of a boutique experience . Recommended :)

While planning our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, I noticed that this hotel/restaurant was located right next to the castle. Ordinarily, if you stay at any of the hotels at the bottom of the mountain, you either walk up the road (quite a climb for older folks like us), pay for the horse drawn carriage ride, or take the bus (E1.00 each way) to the bridge overlooking the castle and then walk down to castle and the hotel/restaurant.

However, if you have a car, you are permitted to drive all the way up to the hotel. But, you must have a reservation to do this. Caution: they are very strict on this, don't forget, you are in Germany....you vil comply! You'll be given a hotel card to display on your dashboard. We had a reservation for the hotel and drove up, passing dozens of "walkers" and numerous horse drawn carriages on our way up. (Got plenty of unfriendly looks from the carriage drivers)

The hotel itself is lovely, clean, quaint and the service staff was helpful and friendly. The bonus to staying here is the proximity to the castle. At night we walked up to the castle after a nice dinner and viewed the castle all lit up. The hotel offers a small number of rooms. Some have private bathrooms while others (like ours) had only a small wash sink. Down the hall, two enclosed toilet compartments and two shower enclosures with sink vanities were shared. We had no problems accessing either, since most other guests had booked all the rooms with their own private bathrooms.

The breakfast was very good, with the usual offerings of European style continental breakfast. The restaurant portion was a bonus also, since we were able to dine on the outside terrace, sipping our wine, while watching all the "walkers" slogging past our terrace on their way up to the castle. I would highly recommend a stay here for a memorable experience at Neuschwanstein.

When I read the information about this B&B, I had no idea that we would literally be a few steps from the Castle entrance!!! I was so pleasantly surprised to see that we could have the castle all to ourselves at night to meander around the perimeter of its majestic towers at night. I must confess that I was thrilled to see that we had vehicle access to the hotel, which made the climb uphill much more enjoyable (smile). We only stayed one night, so only partook of breakfast, but it was a nice spread in a continental style. The drinks were a little on the pricey side - coffee's were expensive, but the view and access to the castle made it all worth while. We stayed in a family room with our 2 daughters, and the accommodations were comfortable and clean. The only negative for us is that we arrived at 5:30pm on our arrival date, and were told that the restaurant was already closed for the evening. Thankfully, we packed enough "snacks" to hold us over until morning. You receive a 10% discount on castle ticket prices when staying at this hotel, but have to go back downhill to the ticket offices in town to get them. You'll have to judge if you'd rather have tickets in hand before you arrive at the hotel or save a bit on admission prices with an extra trip downhill on the morning of your tour.

Location is the great benefit, this is the only place to my knowledge which allows you to use private road up the hill, so you are only few steps away fron Neuschwanstein castle. The price (we paid 65Euros for a room) is absolutely justified for the level of service and cleanliness of the room you receive. yes, it is with shared bathroom, but it is clean and nice, so I would strongly recommend to use this place instead of more expensive options available in Hochenschwangau and Fussen
