“Nicely displayed, but sparse”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

The Museum of the Bavarian Kings is modern, nicely laid out, and fairly informative, but there's not much to see in the way of exhibits. The highlights are written histories of particular members of the family, which can surely be found in books or the internet. It also would been helpful to see these laid out as a family tree so visitors can see exactly how they are related to each other and the Bavarian kings.

“Not Much to see”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

You learn a bit about the Bavarian Monarchy by going through pictures of the family. We probably can find those information in the internet now a day. The exhibit is not too exciting. Spend not more than an hour if you want to see some of household items that the Bavarian Royalty use.

“Great collection with too much information”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

There is so much to see and read and listen to here - it really is information overload! But it an interesting museum and you can just stroll through and listen to the parts you are interested in. Anyone interested in the history of the castles and the family will be happy. We had tickets as part of our package with the hotel and castles. Worth having a look as a lot of effort has gone into setting this up.

“Very informative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had free passes from our hotel and we all enjoyed learning more about Bavaria. The museum is beautifully built and the exhibits were pretty interesting. The starting point is a bit dull with just pictures to stare at while listening to the recorder, but it gets better than on with other exhibits. Great activity for teens/adults, but not really for small children. Also a good activity when it's very cold outside!

“Beautifully presented but unengaging”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

We had the combination ticket that allowed us entry to both castles and the museum. The building is really lovely and the location is very easy to get to, and right by the lake.

Overall I enjoyed our visit, but I felt it was a museum that looked better than it educated. For example there were walls and walls of photos of kings with small labels telling you who they were and brief details about them. The corridor looked very artistically appealing, but after I've read about three I unfortunately lose interest in this kind of exhibit as all the information starts to blur together. There were some more engaging bits here and there however, and I did learn some interesting facts about the families and their reigns.

It is definitely worth a look but I wouldn't worry about dedicating more than half an hour here.
