“A must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

Absolutely breathtaking castle and surrounding scenery. It can be crowded during the high season and the hill that leads to the castle is a little steep but I still recommend walking it. I also highly recommend exploring the area around the castle (there's a really nice bridge by the castle and another one that leads down the mountain) and the town in general. Please research the attraction and have a good plan because there are specific entry times.

“Amazing even in the rain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

It rained like crazy the day we visited, but it was still worth it. Absolutely beautiful. Perhaps the highlight of our recent vacation to Austria/Germany.

IMPORTANT: 1) Even for first tour of the day, you must pick up your tickets one hour early. If you are one minute later than the pickup time on your ticket, you are out. 2) The road up to the castle is steep and rather long. Make sure to give yourself enough time to get up there. Again, if you are one minute late, you are out.

“Very picturesque.”

This is a beautiful castle. Here's some important information that could be handy. You buy the tickets at the ticket center. Then need to travel from the ticket center up to the castle. Now heres the tricky part..u need to get there in time for your entry( entry time printed on ticket). Your options are walking uphill (really uphill) bus( every 20 mins and costs approx €2 one way) and horse carriage ( i think every 30 mins at €3 or 4 one way). The bus and horse carriage drop u abt 20 mins from the castle near a bridge which is an excellent place for a photo stop. You climb up a lot of storyes inside the castle for the tour that lasts about 45 mins. Make sure you finsih all this by 5 pm..or you have to walk down..downhill actually.

“3 Rating, But Was It The Time Of Year?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

This a hard review to write. It is a number one attraction because of the beauty and history, which I totally agree with and would rate a 5. However, because of that the crowds are horrendous and that makes it a whirlwind tour in a mass of people, which makes it a1. Compromising, I give it a 3. It is something everyone should see once, but I will not return. I would recommend a slower time of year and maybe the total experience would justify its 5 rating.

“Total rip off”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

My advice: if you really have to go there, go. You will pay 5 Euros for parking. Take the shuttle (I think it's 3.5 euros), hang around the castle, take lots of photos, walk back to town and leave. Bring your own mineral water. Don't give them a penny more than absolutely necessary. Total length of visit: 3 hours top.

And now, here is why:

If you are into Disney this is the place for you. However, do not buy the ticket for the visit: 12 Euros for 30 minutes. You will see nothing you haven't seen before for free in any palace or museum anywhere in Europe. They will rush you through a dozen rooms and that's it. No photos or videos but not because there is art work of inestimable value to protect with copyright. No sir: they don't want you to hang around too long. It's a money-making assembly line, like a fruit-juice factory where you are the fruit and money is your juice. The object is to squeeze as much as possible out of your pockets. If you take the shuttle you pay BOTH WAYS, to go up and to come down. You got the idea.
