The Alpenstuben and Villa Ludwig are the same owners. Alpenstuben offers a great hotel/restaurant/gift shop. The staff is fantastic. Great traditional, Bavarian food! Absolutely fantastic!

We have been at Alpenstuben for a lunch during a recent visit of Neuschanstein castle. I have taken Kaiserschmarrn, and it wasn't cooked properly, if you will try Kaiserschmarrn for the first time there you probably will not like it. Waitress that serviced us, didn't even smile and while servicing us was looking at people aside. By the way, my two friends were happy with their lunch. So may be only me had bad experience.

To be honest , the food we ordered tasted quite good. We were hungry, so everything tasted good. However , never order sparking water from this restaurant. When I complained that my water smelled white wine, the writer changed a new glass for me, but still it had the same smell! Obviously they store their water in white wine bottles.

We were visiting Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles and needed to grab some food while waiting for our tour. Close to the ticket office is Alpenstuben which offers traditional German dishes. We had the Jagerschnitzel and the Wiener Schnitzel and a couple of coffee drinks. The total bill was 33 Euros so not cheap but compared to some of the other restaurants in this tourist area the prices were good. The food was good, not great but good and the service was quick, friendly and spoke great English. I'd recommend as a good restaurant at a reasonable price.

The red deer goulash and the farmers plate was traditional hearty German fare. The real surprise was the salad - large and colorful with a variety of veggies and an excellent ranch dressing with a light tomato flavor. Service was very attentive and spoke good English. We got there after 7:30 pm but it was still busy, the food was served very quickly and the beer was cold.
