“Great hotel in the small town”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

Nice clean rooms, not too big but good enough.
The breakfast is really nice, great variety of food meeting the great quality as well.

The building itself feels a bit like a labyrinth if you stay in the new wing but you can find your way after a couple of days :)
I was satisfied with the bar restaurant as well, nice food and great service.

In case you need to use the laundry service bare in mind that it is not located in the hotel itself (an external laundry works for them). So make sure that you leave later than the predicted arrival of your clothes because they may be delayed. This occurred during my stay, even though I clearly asked the night before if it would arrive in time in case I have to depart earlier than expected. They said yes and predicted it to arrive around 4-5 in the afternoon, so I was sure I can collect them before my 6 o'clock leave (I had to interrupt my stay on a short notice).
It was delayed and they wanted to make me pay for the delivery of clothes if I would not wait even after I explained that I clarified the information mentioned above the night before.
I know it was not their fault, but I believe that would have been a nice gesture from their side after I have spent more than 5 nights there.

I stayed here for one night for the opening night of the 'Berg' beer festival. Checkin was quick and easy and the staff friendly. Room was large and the bed was really comfy. I paid eur145 for one night including breakfast. My company was paying but I think the price was inflated due to the beer festival.

Breakfast was amazing with loads of choice. I'd stay here again if I return.

nice hotel, have been here 20+ times and visited some of the other hotels in erlangen as well. polite service, relatively big hotel compared to other erlangen hotels. like the fact that its close to the center (go out and eat in the center, you'll save lots of money). some of the rooms are spacy and have a bath, some of them are in the back and sare really small/under the roof/only shower... this is a negative point. i'll score rooms a bit lower because of this (sometimes great/sometimes below expectations). breakfast is perfect.

Room Tip: avoid smaller rooms in backend which only have a shower

Dear Guest , thank you very much for your feedback and for staying in our Hotel.
Regards your comment about saving money while eating out in the city center does not really apply. Actually we have introduced a second Restaurant i.e. our "Bistro Ernesto" where you can enjoy fresh made italian food at very competitive rates (6-12 Euro).

We are looking forward to see you again in our hotel and maybe in our Bistro :-)

I stayed at Bayrischer Hof several times. The location of the hotel is good in proximity to the pedestrian area including a shopping mall, to Siemens offices and not too far from the city center and the university.

The rooms are a bit a hit-and-miss-affair: I had often generously sized rooms, but twice also rather small rooms in the rear of the hotel, which is rather tricky to access (a tiny elevator stops one floor below the room - not a catastrophe, but also not great). The rooms are clean and in a solid condition, but a modernization of the furniture would not hurt.

The personnel of the hotel was in all instances very friendly and effective in getting requests completed. With regards to quality of service staff, Bayrischer Hof clearly stands out among the many less then customer-friendly hotels in Erlangen.

The breakfast buffet is very good - the hotel restaurant is excellent.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the rooms in the back of the hotel if possible

I've stayed in this hotel during a business travel.
The room was small, but clean and the staff was very efficiente.
As most of this region hotels, a bit too expensive for what you get.
The biggest problem is the smell of fried food at breakfast. You leave breakfast needing a change of clothes...

My secretary booked here for me and the price was €155 per night, the people I was travelling with were charged €85 per night, same room, same service. The maid instead in trying to get into the room about 20 times depsite me having a notice on the door saying Do Not Disturbe. At the price I paid, vastly over priced, didnt have breakfast so cant comment. The WiFi was good.

Room Tip: dont pay more that €85 per night.

We have stayed at this hotel a few times now. The service is friendly and efficient and although the beds are a bit on the hard side it is an Hotel with character and some charm. The corridors are warmly decorated with wood and some unexceptional works of art, but we infinitely prefer this to characterless steel and concrete. Breakfast is served in a wonderful vaulted cellar room and with the variety of food served up for breakfast you probably won't need lunch! We particularly like the food in their restaurant in the evening. It is on the pricey side but on the other hand it is high quality fine dining. There are a lot of multinational companies based in and around Erlangen and it is difficult to find hotels which don't just cater for the travelling delegate/businessman but I think this one does. Erlangen may seem an unlikely location for touring but it is an attractive town and an excellent base from which to explore Nurnberg and Bamberg. The Hotel is a 15min walk from the station.
