Ringhotel Stadt Coburg

We stayed at Stadt Codurg for four nights. The staff were all amazing. Their kindness and hospitality impeccable. The Hotel is clean and comfortable with good size rooms and huge modern bathrooms. The restaurant was delectable from food to service. The breakfast second to none with meats, cheeses, fruits, and pastries. It even had bacon and eggs.
It is so close to the train station (1/2 block) and within walking distance to the town Centre. (or cab) which was always in front of the train station. Our room faced the front, with windows open, never heard a train, but did hear the traffic. It also has an outdoor garden in which you can dine or just have a relaxing drink. It is Lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay and am really surprised that it doesn't have a 5 Star rating. It should

Room Tip: It does have hair driers.

Just returned from a trip to Coburg where we stayed at the Stadt Coburg for 4 nights. The hotel is a gem, rooms are spotless and a nice size. Ours had lots of room for clothes and luggage. The bathroom was a good size for Europe and spotless. The breakfast buffet was very nice with a good selection of cheeses, meats, breads, yogurt and eggs. Sausage too or bacon. They have house made jams which were fantastic. The staff is friendly, efficient and welcoming. The owner is a lovely woman with much humor and also very friendly. We thank her for putting up with the crazy Americans getting locked on the patio and using all the ice. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Sdadt Coburg and would recommend it in a heartbeat and also stay again anytime. English is spoken and as others have stated it is a short walk or cab ride to the lovely marketplace of Coburg.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is right opposite the train station, the room we stayed in was on the side of the hotel overlooking the road and station, yet with the excellent double glazing we did not hear any road or train noise in our room. Parking was free and easy to find on the site. The location was great, a short walk (7-10 mins) into the town centre where there are many restaurants and shops, plus a beautiful old town square. We didn't try the evening meals here, although the sweet wooden restaurant looked nice. The breakfast was European style and consisted of an extensive spread. The dining room was light and well furnished with a painting of Prince Albert on the walls. Our room was large and modern with a separate sitting area and desk. There were a lot of nice touches such as a safe, bathrobes and free wifi in the room. The staff were very helpful and although there was no tea making in our room, they happily made us tea to take up to our room on request and at no extra charge. Speaking no German certainly did not cause us any problems. The lift was small but functional. The real surprise of this hotel was that the bathroom was beautiful - one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel with spotlessly white fittings and tiles. Even though I looked I couldn't find one single speck of dirt or dirty grouting on the tiles which is so common in hotels now. I think the cleaner was exceptional! Two very small points are the bath towels could be larger and softer and there was no shampoo just a 10ml sachet of bath/shower gel each day which was very small. It was bitterly cold when we stayed but the room was very well heated. We walked through woods for an hour to the Schloss Callenburg, which was the family home of Prince Albert of Saxony-Coburg. The castle was beautiful but all the tourist information was in German.

The Hotel is positioned just 50 meters from the railway station and only a 5 minute walk from the centre of the beautiful town of Coburg, famous for its long line of royal families, the most notable of which was prince Albert.
The hotel is typically German, clean tidy and efficient. The rooms are large and comfortable with the usual offerings TV mini bar etc, and a desk with convenient power sockets! Not always the case in hotels. The cost at 99 euro single occupancy is a little steep but does include breakfast, unlike many UK hotels these days. The staff are great very friendly and always available to help. Overall very good.

Room Tip: Room 203 is very large and the same rate as the others get this if you can.

Stayed on second floor back of hotel for quiet room. No air con. Window opens with insect screen. Bathroom very small. Shower cramped. Very clean. Staff very friendly and professional. Restaurant at hotel. Very nice food at a reasonable price. Good standard German breakfast. 15/20 minute walk into town centre.

Room Tip: I suggest avoid front of hotel because of road and rail noise.

We stayed 3 nights at Ringhotel Stadt Coburg. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the train station (100 metres). Rooms are not huge but are spotlessly clean with decent amenities including a bar size fridge. Breakfast (which was included in the price of a room) was excellent, with both hot and cold foods. We ate in the dining room twice - excellent Franconian food with friendly young waitresses who spoke English. The hotel has a free computer in the lobby for guests to use. The central part of Coburg is about a 20 minute walk. Coburg was a delightful surprise. It is a small (42,000 people) city which is overlooked by many tourists. However, it is worth a visit for its beautifully preserved old buildings, charming squares and, for those of us who are history buffs, its connection to the British monarchy (Coburg was the home of Prince Albert, spouse of Queen Victoria).

Stayed in a superior room which was clean, well-decorated, modern and functional and with a very large and spotlessly clean bathroom. Nice touches included bathrobes, umbrella and use of bicycles. Several locations for meals both inside - a stubel as well as other rooms - and on decking outside. Breakfast choice both comprehensive and excellent though a couple of improvements might be a juicer for fresh orange juice, and cooked to order bacon and eggs. Evening meals also excellent in terms of choice, quality, portion size, presentation and price. It would appear that the restaurant is also patronised by locals, which I take as a good sign. Little English spoken so there is a need to understand some German. My wife and I had no complaints and the staff were helpful and attentive. The hotel is located close to the railway station and is a short, pleasant walk - about one kilometre - into the old historic town centre. All in all a very pleasant stay and good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room.
