“Perfect location for a ski vacation!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2010

This is the perfect hotel for skiing, winter sports or outdoor adventure. Its right on the spot to catch the train or the cable for the ski slops. Very good breakfast and dinner. Rooms clean may be a little bit austere but with the essentials. Wifi 30 minutes free at the lobby asking for a password. Bus to Garmich ourly for 3.5€.

We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas period and were absolutely delighted. The location is superb, there is a beginners ski slope directly opposite the hotel which is free to hotel guests. Ski-hire is also available and can be added to your room bill and lessons can be booked via the hotel and also added. The Zugspitze is 5 minutes walk to the cable car (for more advanced ski-ing) and there are lots of lovely walks in the area,

The hotel is very good, the breakfast excellent with a good choice, the staff are very helpful. There are two restaurants in the hotel, the main restaurant and a Thai restaurant. We ate in both. If there is one minor gripe with this hotel I would say that the food is not as varied or as good as we have experienced in other Bavarian hotels but the Christmas Day buffet was absolutely wonderful and we have no complaints. Our room was large, comfortable and very warm even in sub zero temperatures. The wellness area was pleasant and you could even walk outside in the snow after your sauna if you were so inclined.

We will definitely be visiting this hotel agaim, primarily because the location cannot be bettered. It is equally good in both summer and winter because of the wide variety of activities, ski-ing, swimming in lake, sauna, swimming pool etc. Go the the Eibsee and enjoy!

We stayed for 4 nights at the lovely Eibsee hotel.
Altthough we were expecting the location to be beautiful, we certainly could not have imagined a more breathtaking setting. The lake is so clean, we let our 9 and 5 year old swim daily in company of quacking ducks! The four of us went for walks after breakfast everyday around thelake (7.5 Km)(absolutely am ust , we discovered smaller emerald green lakes, water salling from the mountains and you get thebest view from the benches scattered aroung it) t helped us stay fit while enjoying the splendid food.
Then there is the majestic Zugspitz of which we had view from our room as well as the lake. Rooms are well appointed and very tastefully decorated and have a good size when compared to European standards.

The hotel has very well trained staff in most areas. The only complaint we had was the female team at the breakfast/dinner restaurant the majority of whom were quite unfriendly. ( bothered us the first day, then just did not pay attention anymore since thehotel/aea offered so much more)

We were on half board and the food ws quie goood. Breakfast was hearty and dinner, in the form of a 4 course menu was vey gourmet like.

The wellness facilities wee also good. There is a pool, sauna and solarium.
The cable cars station is adjacent to the hotel, although we must admit we did not go up in them.. Height frighted, all of us.

Ah, nighttime. It is all quiet and still after 10 pm the latest. Then if you look out your window, you'll see the most amazing sky full of stars. Got to see it to believe it!

You also are able to get to Austria in less than 30 minutes and the nearby town of Grainau is quaint and picturesque(liked Grainau better than Garmisch)

We would defintely consider coming back to Eibsee and once again find inner peace in such surroundings.

  • Liked — to have our senses numbed by such imposing nature
  • Disliked — female staff at restauranst

This 4 star hotel is located on the Eibsee lake shore in the Bavarian Alps, with the awe inspiring backdrop of Germany´s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
Access is easy by car but what is excellent about this out of the way treasure is that it can be reached almost to the door by public transport , both bus or train. The most fun way to get there is by the local cog railway from Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a station stop only 5 mins walk from the hotel front door; the arrival and departure times tie in perfectly with the hourly train to/from Munich. The cog railway provides access to the summit of the Zugspitze at almost 3000m.
This attractive alpine style hotel has a variety of rooms variously priced. Our room with a balcony, at the lower end of the price range, was simply but comfortably furnished. It was spotlessly clean, with unobtrusive service with a particular attention given to detail.
The hotel has 2 restaurants - we ate at the main one which featured a daily changing menu of Bavarian cuisine. The food was of very high standard and beautifully presented. Although there was a vegetarian choice most evenings this was limited. The afternoon offer of homemade cakes were a treat!
All staff were unfalteringly polite and helpful, speaking perfect English, which made our stay very easy.
The cable car and cog railway ensure Eibsee is a favourite ski location however the hotel and locality offer a variety of activities throughout the year such as tennis, boating, hiking and cycling. The round-lake walk is an easy 2 hours with spectacular views. It can also be cycled around.
The hotel has a range of spa facilities including a small indoor pool, sauna (with lake and mountain views), steam room and gym.
This was our second summer stay. It was a wrench to leave and we are already talking about when we might return!

  • Liked — The location and immaculate attention to detail
  • Disliked — Extensive TV channels on in-room TV, only one in English
