Although the hotel is settled in a beautiful location, it is over-priced, especially for the sub-standard service. The food was also very poor, as was the service in the restaurants.

Of course, I've contacted the management, but have yet to hear back, after several years of waiting to address my concerns.

I booked this hotel same day to get away with the wife for the weekend. Hotel is great plenty of things to do. The food is good with plenty of selection. We both enjoyed the outside hot tub and bike rentals. The room was very clean and had a great view. My only complaint was that you had to pay for internet access, not a big deal but I think it should have been included like almost all hotels. One last note if you want to get any massages or treatments make sure you book in advance.

Beautiful Resort grounds and outstanding area. So many great reviews we booked a few days here only to be very disappointed. For a military resort this is very expensive compared with local hotels. Upon entering the room there was a letter on the bed stating the water was tested and found to have a higher than normal lead content, so dont drink the tap water.

The staff here is NOT capable of handling guests needs. We tried but were unable to book spa visits and tours during our stay because all were overbooked the entire week we were here. While the facilites are pretty, coming into the compound and going through the security gate has the feel of a concentration camp with barbed wire fences all around. Not a place to visit for a quiet holiday, stay on the economy and you will be much happier if you are wanting to experience German culture, this resort is strictly an American family with kids only compound.

Internet access is $11.00 per nite which surprised us considering the high cost of the rooms. Also, This is the first military hotel we stayed at in our 20 yrs service that actually charged to use the washers and dryers. Up till now has always been a free service. We will NOT be coming back!

Everything about the Edelweiss is American, except its location. The hotel is designed to resemble a Walt Disney vision of a lodge at a national park. The restaurants serve American comfort food. Staff are mostly college-age and imported from the Mid West on a 13 month contract; they are friendly and efficient but don't speak a bit of German. Rooms are very American: nice and large. Free underground parking. Don't stay here if you want a European experience while visiting Europe.

No matter what side of the hotel you're on you have a wonderful view of the Alps surrounding the city. The hotel has so many things to do, my husband and I originally planned a 2 night stay, but ended up staying a week to take in as much as we could.

This is a beautiful US Military resort located on the base, at the foot of the Zugspitz Mountains in Garmisch, Germany. Though the resort was full to capacity at the time we were in Garmisch, we did take advantage of the restaurants, shopping, and tours organized by the resort. The tours are reasonably priced and professional. We met a lot of nice folks and enjoyed the trips. Though we had a rental car, it was nice to leave the driving to someone else for a change. If you are military and planning a trip to Garmisch, make your reservations well in advance.
