Stayed at Edelweiss from Oct 3 thru Oct 6, 2012, and wished we could have stayed a lot longer, but we had to move on to Vienna. Front desk upgraded us to a junior suite when we arrived, and had a beautiful view of the mountains out our patio door. Room was large and clean. Carpet and furnishings were fine. Since it was Columbus Day weekend, there were alot of families with young kids, but we weren't inconvenienced at all. In fact, watching the kids in the bounce house and climbing the beer crates on that Saturday was very enteraining. Front desk staff was extremely helpful. Held our luggage after check out because we were catching a late night train to Vienna. Pool/Spa staff, gift shop staff and wait staff were also all great! Special kudos to Anthony of Temecula for keeping us entertained at the bar! Used the hot tub during adult only hours and had no problems with kids. Now I want my husband to have one of those steam fountains installed in our hot tub at home!! Used the laundry facilities one night and they were fine. Had counted on using them when we packed for the trip. All the activities and tours were fine for us, an active couple in our 50s. We did the 3 Country Tour one day and Schloss Neushwanstein another. The 3 Country Tour is a lot of riding, but when else do you get a chance to get your passport stamped in Liechtenstein? Also, the drive thru Fluelasse Pass in Switzerland was awesome. Not a trip for someone subject to motion sickness, however, which is clearly stated in the lodge literature I saw. One lady in front of us looked like she was going to pass out a couple of times. Nico, our driver, and Mrs. Sharpe, the tour guide were both very good. Getting thru security on the way back only took a few minutes. The day we went to Neuschwanstein was also a great day. Pete, our guide, was full of great stories that we are still repeating. Loved Hans, our bus driver. Nothing shook him up. We took Pete up on his offer to hike up to Neuschwanstein. Both tours were well worth the price we paid for them. On the day between our tours, we went up to Zugspritze on our own and then explored Garmisch-Partenkirchen on our own. Sometimes we walked to/from town. Sometimes we took cabs, which the front desk called and they were there in under 10 minutes. Mailed post cards from the hotel, didn't have any reason to use the base exchange/PX or post office. Since getting home, have recommended to several friends who are eligible to stay there. Very sorry that this was probably our only chance to stay there as my husband will be out of the Navy next year.
