This is a very well presented musuem about the life and music of this great composer. While absorbing enough for those with a fairly general interest, it is sufficiently detailed not to patronise the more serious Strauss fan, for whom the connection must be a major attraction when visiting Garmisch. There is an attractive recital room and on the top floor an excellent library of scores and books on the composer and his times = great research resource. There is also a listening room with an impressive, if now rather dated, CD changer with access to pretty much all of Strauss's music. While in Garmisch make sure you ask at the tourist office for directions to Strauss's villa - still owned by the family and not open to visitors but worth seeing to complete your Strauss pilgrimage!
