We arrived earlier than expected and were welcomed by Andras the Manager at the front desk. We were allowed to check in with hesitation. This small German hotel was fantastic. We received the type of room that we requested. Request a room in the rear of the hotel to avoid the street side traffic noise. The rooms were impeccably clean and large by European standards. Internet access was consistent. We had 4 internet devices and each device had an adequate signal at all times. Larger properties usually restrict such usage. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the community surrounding the property. Absolutely no complaints about this property.

Room Tip: Request a room in the rear of the property to avoid street-side traffic noise.

Very positive and nice impression. We spent there the 2013 Dec./January holidays, and had excellent time. Staff is friendly, rooms maybe not so big but they are comfortable, clean and with large bathroom, big windows and big balcony. All you can have for your long-stay vacation. Great review for the breakfast buffet: everything you desire! A really huge, fresh, delicious buffet. And .. it is the first time I see the fresh squeezed orange juice machine. SUPER! Breakfast time worths the penny! :-). Simply delicious! We also enjoyed the Silvester's dinner and gala, with 10 courses dedicated fine menu and live music with two excellent singers. A great, warm thank-you to Andreas and his staff, along with waiters and waitresses, all of them so nice and so well hosts dedicated. We appreciated your well-being with us. Hope to come back soon! Ciao from Italy! Maura

This hotel is a moderate walk from the train station, maybe 20 mins. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
We booked a jumbo room and were located in the building opposite the hotel. We were very disappointed to be on the ground floor, facing the road, car park right outside the bedroom window and everyone walked past the bedroom window to enter the building. The bathroom was disabled friendly thus had a flat access shower with a curtain. Fortunately the staff changed our room given our concerns. We were moved up stairs to a brilliant room with a balcony with a view to the alps. Loved it!
The jumbo rooms have a kitchen cupboard with a sink and stove top. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and was a good size.
Breakfast is included and has a good selection.
We ate in the restaurant on Christmas Eve and had a lovely night. It was a set menu and included gluwein. The food was great and the staff very attentive and friendly. A lovely experience.
I would stay here again if I could have the same room.

Room Tip: If you book a jumbo ask for one on the second floor with a balcony that doesn't face the road.

A small hotel away from the center area and ski slopes. Rooms are small but clean and sufficiently comfortable for a few nights. Free Wi-Fi with a good signal. Almost everyone speaks English in this hotel and service is excellent. A big breakfast buffet awaits you in the morning with fresh squeezed orange juice. Looking through the glass enclosure of the orange juice machine squashing fresh oranges is entertaining and assures that what you are drinking is real and fresh. A variety of baked goods, meats, cheeses, coffee drinks and high quality German breads. This hotel is a good value.

I was hoping to stay closer to town, but the rates at Rheinischer Hof couldn't be beat. When we checked in, we were given the free bus pass which we used a few times (way too cold to walk into town). Bus stop is right across the street. We ate dinner at their restaurant the first night, and it was delicious. Breakfast was a welcome change - the only hotel we stayed at who offered scrambled eggs and pancakes - so it was great to get some variety from the rolls, meats and cheeses. My husband was especially thrilled that they had pretzels available for breakfast! The room had an interesting set up with the "entertainment center" directly at the foot of the bed acting as the room separator but I have to give them kudos for utilizing space creatively. We wanted to go up to the Zugspitze summit and were able to get our passes directly from the front desk. Excellent value for the stay!

Garmich is the absolute epic "Old Germany", and the Hotel Rheinischer Hof was no exception to that statement. We were there for 6 days at the end of September into the first week of October. The service was absolutlely outstanding. The accomodations were very clean and had a wonderful of the Alps and overlooked the garden area of the hotel. Breakfast was part of the price and was amazing. But I believe that, truly, what made our experience so memorable and warm was the hospitality of the Griess Family and their staff. They left an impression on us that I can almost gaurantee we will be return customers. The town is story book scenery, and although we'd ventured off to Munich and Austria, I'd go as far to say that when we return to Garmisch I would be content to spend my entire stay in the town. Our last day, in the afternoon, we hiked along the base of the Zugspitze that bordered unscathed farmland overlooking the town. That day of hiking has remained the most memorable of places we toured. The local fare was delicious, ample and reasonably priced, and what more can you say about the beer.

Room Tip: They had rooms across the street that we went to see. One of the them was top floor room that had th...

We stayed 3 nights here, making this our base to visit Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein. We decided to give this a try since it is ranked higher compared to another hotel further down the street. I believe this was off-peak so the price was good for the family room.

We read about some staying in another building and were hoping that we would be put in the main building which we did. The building is a little old but the room is big enough to accommodate 4 of us. Furnish is basic and would have preferred a kettle and some coffee in the room. What we didn't get used to was the door lock which does not have automatic lock.

Breakfast spread was ok with a good coffee machine. The staffs are really nice, especially Andreas, Nina and the waiter at the breakfast (sorry forgot his name) who are always smiling.

Overall, it is a pleasant stay.

Our goal is to meet all your wishes! What are you looking for when you go on holidays? You might wish somewhat more than the ordinary standard? Hence, it is not only about bed, breakfast and mountain view. What we mean is our characteristic pleasant and casual ambience, which surrounds the guests, wherever they are in the house, whatever they do. We mean the mountains just in front of the door. Well, we mean the typical feeling in "Garmisch": the discovery of the unspoilt nature during a walk through the gorge "Partnachklamm", the little thrills during a hang-gliding tandem flight or the "adrenalin rush" during an adventurous rafting tour through the gorge of "Imst". Our declared goal is to be an ideal base for all your personal holiday activities. ... more   less
