My husband and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in July 2012. The hotel was very clean and the staff was excellent. The room was large and very comfortable. We were disappointed that the hotel advertised free wi-fi in the rooms but we had to go to the main lobby to use it. They did have a small wireless switch hanging on the wall in the hallway but it was one that should have been in an office, not a hotel.

This visit was one of many throughout Germany and the breakfast was our least favorite of all at this hotel. There were very few choices and seemed lacking in comparison to others.

It was in an excellent location because we were traveling by train and it was a very short walk from the train station, even with heavy luggage. It was also a short walk to the city center.

We stayed at this hotel 2 nights during our vacation. The GPS directions were a bit confusing and ended up sending us down the wrong way of a 1 way street. And not in the same block of the hotel. We did eventually find the hotel and lucked out with on street parking the 1st night. (free) We did then find out there is some parking available just as you come in the driveway and to the rear of the building. Check in was easy and went well. It is a lovely place and our room was spacious and comfortable. This hotel did not have air conditioning, but thankfully it was a 1st floor room and the evening was a bit cooler. The family running the hotel was very nice and hospitable. They gave us plenty of information to make our stay that much nicer. The breakfast was great. We felt very comfortable during our entire stay. We like the hotels location, being able to walk around the neighborhood and that part of Garmisch. Using a car infrequently. Garmisch is probably my favorite city in Germany and when we return to Garmisch in the future, we very well may stay at the Hotel Bavaria again.

First, while location is great with regard to city sights, etc. The area gets extremely hot and humid in summer and the rooms did not have fans. Made for very uncomfortable nights.

We called a week in advance to change our reservation (arriving a day later and staying a day longer) and was told everything was fine. When we arrived to check in they had errors in our reservation. A situation of the right hand not speaking to the left. It took some time to straighten out. While it did eventually get straightened out the manager kept placing blame on us, the customer, when her employee admitted to making the error.

We then asked for laundry service which we had done at another hotel earlier in the trip. At that hotel it was done in house, done in one day, and cost 30 Euro. Since we were not given any information to the contrary we had similar expectations. We dropped it off on a Wed morning and was told we would have it the next day. We inquired in the evening on Thursday and the staff had no clue what we were talking about. On Friday morning the Manager told us she would "go pick our laundry up later". It appeared in our room later that day with no additional information. When we checked out of the hotel we were charged 112.80 Euro for the laundry. When I questioned this amount I was essentially told "does seem high, but that is what the cleaner charged us, so nothing we can do about it". They tried to claim it was due to dry cleaning which I did not ask for and further more was not required on any of the cloths. When I pushed further for some sort of help in rectifying this ludicrous amount I was completely shut down and literally was hung up on by the manager whom the employee had called.

Further more the food at breakfast was just OK, with little options (compared to other hotels in this area). The dinner menu has few choices and was over priced.

Dear Family Hipps,

we thank you for your stay in our hotel.
We braught the laundry to Müllers Textil Reinigung nearby - we had never problems.
Also we charge only their bill and no extra fee for bringing and picking up the laundry (done by our employees).
The amount of your bill was really high but they have the pricelist and the laundry was charged piece by piece ( they make a diffrence between children cloth and adult cloth, so a normal t-shirt is 3,50 and a kids t-shirt is 2,50 a kids jeans is 4,50 and shorts 3,50 for example)

Now we have the pricelist at the reception and show it to all the guests who want laundry to be washed - (especially when the cloth is kidscloth). So this will never happen again.

Our restaurant is opened from 18:30 till 20:00 o'clock only for hotelguests.
We have a 3 course menu wich is changing every day for 15,-- Euro and a small menu - with 3 straters and about 8 main courses starting from 2,20 Euro per soup to 6,-- Euro for Nürnberger sausages with craut and bread or Wiener schnitzel (veal) with fries and salad for 12,-- Euro - we think this is really not expensive.

We hope you had a good time the rest of your stay in Germany and wish you the best.

This hotel is a fine place to stay as long as you understand it isn't a glitzy 5-Star palace. It is economical, clean, convenient, and quiet. It is located on a residential street between two busy thoroughfares where one can find restaurants and also a fine supermarket which made us good deli sandwiches. There is a great place for ice cream 5 minutes away and, as mentioned by others, the train station is a short walk away.
Our room was small, but it had a balcony from which the mountains could be seen. However, seeing them was hampered by several tall trees that line the property. On the balcony there was a table and a couple of chairs, so we ate our sandwiches and drank our wine out there.
Breakfasts were very good and the dining room was quite pleasant. We were offered freshly scrambled eggs on a couple of mornings. Dinners were not being served in this hotel during the time we were there, but they have a "sister" hotel about 5 minutes away where we ate one night and had a delicious meal. I had what they called pike perch (fish) with a rosemary sauce that was out of this world.
I found a few things that were annoying. One was that breakfast wasn't served until 7:30. Early risers, such as I, prefer a much earlier time and if you want to get started on the day, 7:30 is too late for breakfast.
Another was a mistake in their information booklet in the room. It said "Should you not have a laptop with you, then you can have access to our computer to check or send e-mails." This was not true. When I asked at the desk about it, I was looked at in dismay and told it was not possible. I circled the entry in the booklet and suggested they change it.
Yet another was the size of the bar of soap in the bathroom. It was a miniature bar of Lux about the size of a AAA flashlight battery.
Despite these little annoyances, I recommend this hotel due to its location, cleanliness and pleasant and quiet surroundings as well as its being quite reasonably priced. Special note: the staff member named Angela is a gem: helpful, friendly, and eager to do her best at all times. She seemed to have many roles including serving breakfast, front desk duties, and helping with luggage.

I stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is quite large, over 3 floors. It is no more than 10 mins walk from the railway station (mainline and mountain) and handy for downtown Garmisch-Partenkirchen, such as it is.

My single room was simply but adequately furnished, perectly clean. The hotel offers an adequate if unexciting brekkie. Dinner looked pretty dull, in a rather dull dining room. The staff were unusually pleasant and helpful. Not somewhere I'd want to stay for more than 2 or 3 nights, but nothing wrong with it at all. At about €95 for a double, it's decent enough value.

My family of 4 stayed here for the first time. We comunicated with the staff in English without any problem. They were very friendly and kind, not just to us but also other guests, including Germans on vacation. Interestingly, the other guests were equally friendly as well. We could see how guests would want to return and stay in this homely hotel. Location-wise, walking takes about 5-10 minutes from the train station and Garmisch town centre and yet not noisy. We had all we needed for breakfast including fresh eggs and hot beverages, so no issues there. The half board we opted for after a couple of days of eating out was one of the best decisions we made. The dinner was excellent and delicious. Our past experience with half board meal in another country was a disaster, so we were rather apprehensive initially. As it turned out, the meals in Hotel Bavaria were something we looked forward to every night.

I wouldnt go out of my way to rave about this place. It was OK. Our room was very spacious and clean. It felt like a grandmas bedroom. We had a view to the front yard and a large balcony. The location is GREAT! We never had to move our car once. The breakfast were fine. Not as good as some places but not bad either. They were very friendly on giving helpful advice. Im not sure if I would stay there again, but actually we saw everything there is to see in Garmisch so I see no need to go back.
