Just standard fare here. Sausages, schnitzel and sauerkraut . Nothing particularly interesting or notable.

We saw some reviews of this place on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. It was off the main tourist strip but that's what we were looking for. The food was amazing and the staff even better. Is was, by far, the friendliest place we have eaten at on our trip to Garmisch. The wait staff spoke english fairly well, the menu was in english and german, we were welcomed warmly and the prices were very reasonable. I don't know why this restaurant isn't rated higher, it was number one in my opinion.

Want to enjoy a truly local & delish meal? Head over to Bräustüberl Inh. Wackerle Monika und Sylvester!

Walk in & you'll see large rooms filled w/ heavy wooden tables & lots of people enjoying large beers & even larger plated meals!

Special of the evening was a ginormous pork knuckle & a dumpling w/ kraut salad. This was practically an entire leg & Daddy barely put a dent in his plate while stuffing himself silly.

We were totally wishing they had doggie bags but we knew that is an American thing & it would have been rude to ask but boy was there a lot of food leftover here!

Mom had the Sander Fish Fillet - fried in a wine sauce w/ a ton of root veggies & potatoes. Loved her dish but also had a lot of leftover veggies

The Mr & I got the Spaetzle w/ emmentaler cheese - absolutely out of this world. The cheese was totally saturating the spaetzle & this was a very good thing - lots of stringy pulls & the pasta was so tender but cooked just right

Also shared the Bread Dumpling w/ Creamy Mushroom Sauce & mixed Salad. Best dumpling we had while in Bavaria! Soft & doughy & really allowed the flavor of the assorted mushrooms to take center stage

The waiter was super funny - would not let the Mr order 2 dumplings b/c he said they were too big.....well, the Mr finished it & asked for another & finished that too. And they were indeed big but did not compare to the size of the meaty plated portions.....and he did not know the Mr's talent for copious dumpling consumption

Washed it all down w/ dark beers for the kids & light beers for the parents

Only reason this was not a 5-Star evening was due to the vast amount of flies that permeated the restaurant. Maybe it was due to all the meat being prepared & served but those flies were completely unforgiving! It was so bad that they actually handed out flyswatters to the tables. Maybe investing in some pest control would be a better option?

Even so, we'd still eat here again & would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an awesome rustic, authentic German meal!

We went on a beautifully sunny day and sat outside on the lovely terrace. The waitress was very nice and the food was very authentic and lovely.
Our 1.5 year old daughter also enjoyed the place.

This place was recommended to us by locals. It is a little out of the way and as such not frequented much by tourists. This is a real Bavarian restaurant. There are two restaurants here. One is casual and the other is more traditional. Both are excellent.
