We had reserved in advance and called before and given our orders in the morning so that the had planty of time to prepare. Still our group of people approx 15 people did not get their food, instead some insulting comments. We actually left after two hours and some of us had got nothing to eat! This family excursion which was planned a long time ahead was almost destroyed by the behaviour of owners/ staff of this place. Its really a shame when consider the fantastic view and geographic position of this place. Do not go here if you want more than a drink!

After a long hike from the Partnach Gorge my wife and I were excited to come across an oasis that would provide some rest and recuperation. This is the Berggasthof Eckbauer restaurant. It had a festive atmosphere with people in the outdoor seating enjoying the scenery/weather by drinking beer and having a meal. We entered the restaurant & used their restroom facilities for Damen (Women) and Herren (Men) to freshen up. Posted on each door in German was a sign that indicated .50 Euro for the use of their facilities. After refreshing, we approached the gentleman behind the register with a 1 Euro payment for the kind use of their facilities. After waving me off he said, "No problem, for customer's use." We thanked him and found seating in the restaurant since the outdoor seating was at full capacity. We then sat and waited for service for 20 minutes. We knew the waitresses were busy so we were patient. The man behind the register kept muttering "Amerikaner". He made this reference at least 3 times. We assumed that he was deferring to us since we were the only ones seated in the restaurant. The three waitresses would walk by our table with their trays of drinks and food without acknowledgment. Finally when 4 young men with a young lady in hiking gear like us came in and sat nearby the waitresses stopped to take their order in German. Within minutes they were served water and beer. We then got up to leave. No one from the restaurant stopped us to ask if they could take our order. We could only surmise that they did not serve Americans, Interracial couples or only favor customers local to the region. We were in Germany from 1-20 August 2012 and this was the only black mark for the duration of our trip.
