“Always great to get here”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Really enjoy staying here having drived down the Romantic Road from Wurzburg many times, rooms always good even though the bathrooms a bit dark, staff always great.
This time stayed two nights and went to see the Lindhof Palace and the Ettal Monastery, both really good.
First night enjoyed our meal at the Kaffehaus Thron in Marienplatz, (but quiet compared to previous years but food and wine good). Second night tried the Ristoratnte/Pizzeria la Baita, (good food and wine, very full with regulars, service a bit slow).
Look forward to the Obermuehle again.

Staff greeted us with a complimentary drink, and then carried our cases to the outhouse where we were placed for both nights. The place is currently undergoing major structural work, which meant that in places it was like staying on a building site. Consequently there was no way of getting from our outhouse to the main building under cover - and it seemed each time we tried to do so, the heavens opened and it poured. And there were no umbrellas around!

The rooms were okay, if eccentrically lit. The hotel cannot be blamed per se, but we did get fed up with having to listen to broadcasts of West Coast baseball games being listened to in the small hours by a set of inconsiderate other residents.

We were though very impressed with the restaurant, with cooking as good as any we came across in Bavaria - with rather less of the heavy sauces that otherwise seem to be de rigeur.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the main house!

This hotel has a very nice view from the garden but that is the best I can say for this hotel. The rooms were worn and dog hair was still in the carpet. And let me say this about dogs- they are allowed at this hotel. I love dogs but not bad owners. We were trying to enjoy a nice glass of wine in the garden and enjoy the view and a small dog was barking on the balcony for almost an entire hour. I think one must be able to do better in the charming town of Garmisch.

We didn't intent to stay here but we were on our way back from a motorbike road trip to Bulgaria when we noticed signs for Garmisch. We decided to go there and see if there was room at the lovely hotel we stayed in a few years previously. There was and once again it didn't disappoint but Best Westerns never do! The room was clean, modern and had a really comfy bed; so comfy that we stayed for two nights instead of one. The pillows were just pure luxury. The staff were very helpful and offered us a complimentary beer on arrival. We had done several hundred miles on a motorbike so this was very welcome. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant staff were a bit grumpy but the restaurant was lovely and the breakfast was an absolute feast for both vegetarian and eater-of- animals-who-have-had-a-mother. There is a swimming pool which as a good size and just the right temperature. You can change and shower at the pool area. The location was excellent for exploring Garmisch. We had mostly lovely weather but we have been to this area a few times and it has always had a magnificent storm (magnificent from the hotel balcony that is, not so great when on a motorbike). They are very common in this area in July August so take a brolly just in case.

Room Tip: We asked for the cheapest room but were given the price of a suite. We were going to go but were c...

Staff greeted us with a complimentary drink, then advised us of a discount on the evening meal as the hotel was having renovations done. Rooms comfortable and well appointed. 2 little cakes left ready for a snack. Staff all very friendly and efficient. Dinner on the terrace in sight of the mountain excellent. Breakfast outstanding - best ever in large room with all tastes catered for and all beautifully presented.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountain.

We went there to discover Garmisch. In addition to the beauty of the mountain, we discovered a really nice hotel (we are also up graded!! thanks), well placed, 5 minutes walking from the center, nice swimming pool to relax after effort, excellent breakfast, shuttle to go the main site, nice people.

We got a room in the annex. Parking is not easy if you arrive late, cars all over the place. The room was a corner room with a cirkular sofa in a corner. Large balcony facing a little stream. Room need renovation but bed was OK. Nice breakfast with many choices of warm and cold items. Room cost incl city tax was 169 euro ..... 15 min walk to city center, preferably the path beside the stream.

Room Tip: Choose a renovated room in the main building if you can.
