Who knew there were so many kinds of Snitzel ?
Traveling over Easter in Bavaria can be tricky if one of your party does not like fish. Durning Holy Week fish dishes are traditional. Luckily there is always snitzel . If it’s crispy on the outside but melt in your mouth when you bite into it you have found one of the best. Chances are you are in the Hotel Schatten dining room..
The dining room is open to outsiders as well as Hotel guests . In fact our first night there I was glad we had made reservations for dinner when checking in . Our first night there it was full of Germans celebrating the Easterr holiday,We May have been the only Americans .The food is wonderful but go hungry. The servings are not for the faint of appetite. Try the three kinds of Snitzel platter and an order of fries on the side. There are some waitresses who understand English better than others. Be polite but persistent and you will be understood . Wine- of course, I prefer a white with Snitzel ask your waitress for suggestions. Naturally a wide selection of beer is available. ( There is even a beer garden outside) What a find!
But we were there for the authentic decor, (artificial flowers not withstanding , the snow had only just melted), light wood ,warm hospitality.and food cooked with love.More
