My husband and I stay at Gästehaus Otto Huber Hotel Garni for 2 nights. We really enjoy staying here. Otto is a great and helpful host, he is very nice and friendly. The room we stayed is very lovely and clean with pretty garden terrace. Breakfast is excellent. The location is good (near Oberammergau train station). This is a wonderful and perfect place to stay!

This is a lovely B and B in a residential neighborhood in Oberammergau.

Otto and Eve are exceptionally gracious hosts who went out of their way to help us. For example, I couldn't get my GPS device to charge in my rental car, Otto found a solution that allowed us to find our next destination.

Another example, we arrived late on a rainy Sunday ight and wanted to find a restaurant....Otto led us in his car to the only open restaurant, a nice Italian place.

Our room was conveniently designed and impeccably clean. We had a nice view of the mountains.

Breakfast was a good assortment of protein, grains, fruit and dairy products....and a few sweets too.

Besides a great place to stay, we felt like we also made new friends of Otto and Eve.

If we go back to Oberammergau, this is where we will stay!

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of June 2010 as part of a package (booked through Dertour) to see the Passion Play.

Lovely guesthouse which has been renovated by the owner, Mr Otto Huber. Mr Huber's family have been involved with the Passion Play for many many years and he actually co-wrote the 2010 Play. There are lots of memorabilia regarding the Play in the guesthouse. With Mr Huber being so heavily involved with the Play it was nice on the evening before the Play when he gave us a very informative talk about the history of the Play and the Play itself.

Rooms are small but very nice and clean with everything that you could possibly want. A decent sized balcony overlooked the garden and towards the town. Food was served in the recently refurbished dining room which overlooks the lovely little garden. Food was good and well presented - more than adequate for this sort of stay. Service was excellent.

The guesthouse is situated a little way from the town centre and as the weather was very good it was a lovely walk. There would be lovely walks into the open countryside to the back of the guesthouse but we did not have time to do this. The little shops in town were obviously geared to the Passion Play and were full of beautiful craft works - a very pleasant way to spend some time. The church and museum are beautiful and we went along to the Son et Lumiere in the church the evening before the Play. We could have spent at least another day exploring the area. The Play itself was amazing and an experience not to be missed.

Mr and Mrs Huber were excellent hosts and it was nice to be give a farewell greeting on the morning of our departure.

A very pleasant stay in a lovely area with friendly and excellent hosts and staff - would recommend this small guesthouse and would have no hesitation in returning for a short stay.

Gastehaus Otter Huber is a beautiful gastehaus with very comfortable rooms. Ours had a balcony, giving us a fabuslous view of the city and snow covered mountains. Within walking distance to the town and a marvelous wood carving shop only two houses down. Wi-fi available in the rooms, the shower was glorious, delicious breakfast, and Herr Huber was a fantastic host, giving us the history of the local church's saint (which we easily found with his directions) and information about the Passion Play (which we missed by a month). I would go back just to speak with him!
There aren't enough positive adjectives for me to describe how lovely this gastehaus is. I only wish we had had more time.
Pet friendly!!

We stayed two nights in September 2010 to see the Passion Play. Otto gave us a real welcome, inspite of being very busy with the Play. The guest house is extremely comfortable with a modern interior. Food was good, too. Oberammergau is a most beautiful village surrounded by mountains. We will be back!

Stayed here for 2 nights in order to see the Passion Play. Otto Huber is a true gentleman who went out of his way to ensure the comfort of all his guests. As an added bonus, Herr Huber is the playwright for the 2010 Passion Play and also plays the role of the Narrator in the Play. He is intimately involved in all aspects of the Passion Play and so is a source of deep knowledge of present and past Passion Plays. I would have enjoyed spending a few days chatting with Herr Huber about not only the Play itself, but the meaning behind it all.

As for the Gastehaus itself, the service is excellent from the entire Huber family as well as the staff. We have full room & board as part of a Passion Play package. Breakfasts were the standard European fare featuring cold cuts, cheeses, cereals etc. Lunches and dinners were always 3-course affairs. While I wouldn't consider the food quantity to be overwhelming, it was most certainly adequate and always quite tasty.

There are no minibars in the rooms but there is a large fridge on the main floor which operates on the honour principle. While I didn't partake, I did notice that the most expensive item was the half-litre bottle of beer for 2 Euros. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate however were all free; you simply helped yourself from the fancy but easy to use cappucino machine to get the hot drink of your choice.

There is but one computer in the house but wifi is free. I couldn't get a wifi signal in my room (#17) but it was no big deal to wander down to the main floor where I got full signal while I sipped my cup of green tea.

If you're in Oberammergau for the Passion Play, the theatre is but a short walk to the theatre. It's actually quite plesant to take the walk from the theatre to the Gasthaus, but if it were raining I could see that the distance might be a bit of a pain. (But that would be true of anywhere you stay.)

We took the train from Munich to Oberammergau. The walk from the train station to Herr Huber's Gasthaus couldn't have been even 5 minutes. But as close as it is to the train station, the Gasthaus is very quiet and offers a perfectly peaceful repose at night.

I will stay here again.

I have stayed here twice now and have been extremely pleased. The rooms are very nice and clean. The owner, Otto, is extremely helpful and is always concerned with how you're enjoying your stay. It's within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and also skiing.
