“Incredible staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

We were quite irritated when we arrived at Das Posch because we had reservations at another place and were told when we arrived at reception that our room had been given to someone else and we would have to go to Das Posch instead. How lucky we were - we found a place to go back to again and again. Our stay was wonderful, with a clean comfortable apartment, a delicious breakfast, and the most amazing employee in Tanya. On our last day at the hotel, she left a little wrapped gift and card for my son at our "usual" table - she remembered that our little boy was having a birthday that day. We were so touched by her thoughtfulness. We can only recommend this hotel and their incredible staff.

We spent one week at Das Posch during the winter holidays. We had a deluxe room which was a great value: it had heated wooden floor and a very comfortable bed. The room was perfectly cleaned every day. Breakfast and dinner were very good. Staff was always very attentive to our needs. We were mostly in contact with Tanya and with the owner, both lovely persons.
The hotel has a very family atmoshpere. The fire places on the ground floor makes a lot of the atmosphere especially during winter time.It is situated out of the main street which makes it very quiet at all times, but nevertheless 5 minutes away from the city center.
For the winter sports fans Oberammergau offeres several slopes for alpin ski and very nice tracks & surroundings for cross country skiing.
We benefited from having the Konig Card - offered by the hotel - which gaves us several free entries to museums or spas, like the WellenBerg Thermen. For more info have a look here: http://www.koenigscard.com/index.php?id=58&L=1
What I noticed during our stay in the area were a lot of families with children, including two families with children at Das Posch. Therefore, I think it is a very children friendly place.
Thank you again Tanya & her boss for all the hospitality shown during our stay!
We felt very welcomed in this hotel so might consider returning.

Room Tip: If you can, go for the deluxe room with heated wooden floor.

My Wife and I decided to get married in Oberammergau Germany. This is my Grandmother’s hometown. When we hatched this plan we asked our German Relatives who still live in Oberammergau for help. They suggested we stay at the Posch. They also suggested we have our Reception at the Posch.
We did and everything was perfect! It was truly a special place, great rooms, great staff and a great vaul, with magical views. You will not be disappointed!

Das Posch Hotel was incredible. Nice furnishings, clean -- and best of all -- and incredibly helpful staff. Barbara at the front desk (who also played Mary Magdalene in the last Oberammergau passion play) helped us call ahead to hotels in other villages when our plans changed and was one of the friendliest, most helpful persons we encountered on our whole trip. (We speak very limited German, so her assistance on the phone was critical.) Plus, we came in from a long day of backpacking from Walchensee, and were pretty wet from 2 hours in the rain, and the owner kept the restaurant open late and served us probably the most delicious schnitzel we had on the whole trip. The hotel also offered free umbrellas and the "koenigscard" which got us significant discounts around town, probably saving us at least 30 euros that we otherwise would have dropped. (The gondolas are both free with the card.) The free breakfast was the best we found in Bavaria. We ended up extending our stay. An unqualified recommendation.

My family stayed here during a conference. The family room we booked was unavailable due to maintenance, but the manager was focused on our satisfaction and provided and excellent alternative. Great, quiet location with a super staff.

We stayed 2 nights for the Passion Play and were totally satisfied. We found the staff to be friendly, our accommodation was very good and the meals were adequate. We did find the stairs a bit of a challenge. Joan and Adam Bage (Port Elizabeth, South Africa)
