We walked via Leutaschklamm to Ederkanzel. There are signs and even I could do it. Weather was good so we had a great view on the mountains. From the terrace of the restaurant you can enjoy a great view.

We had some beers and ate pancakes, steak and reiberdatschi (pancakes from potatoes). I had a fluffy pancake which I would recommend not just as food but as an experience. A massive meal which encourages climbing the highest mountain immediately. Great stuff.

Whilst the adults were chatting the kids played freely. There is a swing etc.

We walked up Austrian route 48 from the car park start to the Leutascher Geisterklamm after we had walked the gorge. Not to difficult a walk slipping back and forwards over the German/Austrian borders. The Ederkanzel has a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The drinks were about the norm and the home made cakes were fantastic. We then walked down the supply road to Lautersee lake to finish the day. Great days walking.

Our 4 teenagers and us 50 year old parents hiked up from Mittenwald. We arrived to glorious views and great radlers and Bavarian food. Memories for a lifetime. And the hike wasn't all that bad if you are in decent shape.

Situated at 1200 metres high, the German/Austrian border runs through the south facing terrace! It's about an hour's steep walk up through the trees from Mittenwald, but well worth the effort. Stunning views south into Austria in brilliant sunshine, and a pleasant welcome. We enjoyed a 'well deserved' lunch with beer, feeling 'on top if the world'! Highly recommended!
