It's a good place for both family and friend group to visit. spend half a day in the forest, you would be refleshed with the clean air and nice landscape.

“Very very beautifull”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

A beautifull area with lots of history. CLose to Salzburg and Munchen. A very nice area for summer and for ski or just relax or a Spa hotel. Avoid November because most restaurants are closed then! You can visit the Eagles Nest where Hittler was a lot or take a tour in the bunkers which are next to the Intercontinental Hotel. Also it is very nice to take the boat tour on the Königsee and go to Bartholome. Beautifull small church which you can only see by taking the boat first.

“Fantastic views from Mt. Jenner of Lake Konigssee and the alps”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

We drove from our hotel in Obersalzberg to Konigssee (about 10 mins), where the road ends. There you will find lots of parking, an information center (that was actually of NO help at all), a walking path with shops, restaurants and small hotels that lead to Lake Konigssee (to the right of the parking area) and the Jennerbahn cable car that will take you to the top of Mount Jenner (to the left of the parking lots). Parking costs about 2 euro and you will need coins.

The Jennerbahn cable car cost 42 euro for the two of us, roundtrip. However, you could hike to the top, which would have taken me half the day, and walk back down. The cable car was fairly small, but did the job. There is one stop along the way to the top, but we didn't get off as most people don't. When you get to the top, there is a restaurant with outside tables and a gift shop. From the restaurant, you can hike up about 5 or 10 minutes to a peak with amazing views of Lake Konigssee and the alps. You can also hike in the area once you reach the top. We saw endless trails and switchbacks.

We took the cable car to the bottom, but we would have walked down if we had more time. The last cable car was at 4:00 pm.

Worth the trip!
