While I realize that you cannot have people wandering about everywhere, I'd appreciated a bit more time to look at things in the mine, the tour felt a bit rushed. Apart from this, I think it was quite fun. Our son enjoyed it (we used the minecraft spin to get him interested...) and that was pretty much my requirement :-)

Our family of 6 - ages 24 to 56 - enjoyed the salt mine tour, especially the chutes. Our biggest complaint was that the English headsets provided sporadic commentary at best. Two out of the six didn't work due to low batteries. These should be checked before distributing. It was a fun diversion from all the WWII overload experienced during the rest of our Germany visit.

Did salt tour after reading reviews here but not that impressed. Given the English headsets which didn't work due to low battery(why aren't they checked regularly before being handed out) so virtually did tour with no information. Felt more could be done as you were walking along the tunnels. Spend your money elsewhere.

Arrive and put on coveralls to go deep into the salt mine via a mine train. You can get a language headset because the tour they offer is only in German. The tour shows how they mine the salt and the tools and technology they use. Try the slide, it is really a hoot, and something you don't get to do everyday. It is best to wear sneakers or something other than sandals because it is kind of cool in the mine.
