I had a nice welcome - friendly, a welcome drink, and helpful. My single room turned out to be a double but without a proper balcony and largely unfurnished. A small chair in the "loggia". The restauarant is very hit and miss. the first night I was told the only open white wine was Bacchus (God knows what that is) and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc from Germany - thin, vingarary, thoroughly unpleasant). so I dined out the second night just to get a decent glass of wine. But I did miss out on service and the superb veal. I tried Axel Stuben in a really famous five star hotel and frankly the meat was inferior and the buffet salad was an insult compared to here. So the third night I dined in again and this time asked for the wine list which turns out to be excellent and with plenty of good open wine from Austria. However, I thought Rosa Gebratene" would mean here in bayern the same as it means in Austria. This is not so. An excellent piece of beef arrived ruined by the chef - over cooked, grey, dry, like a piece of cardboard. I asked the waitress afterwards whether 'Rosa' meant something different in Germany than in Austria - she said no. She would tell chef. If she did then I certainly did not hear of it. I don't think Chef gave a ....! The hotel is filled with coach groups - always a sign of decline. I would not return here - plenty of alternatives in the town. Even if I did like the welcome. The parsimoniousness irritated me - hugely expensive car parking (with little real alternative) - 2 Euros for a towel - if you are paying a package rate well I guess this is fair enough but for individual travellers it's insulting. Another example at breakfast they cook eggs to order - I was given one fried egg which was scrambled being removed from the griddle with most of the yoke left behind - the girl doing this - I won't call her a chef - simply said Entschuldigung but did not offer to do another one - now that is disgusting. If I were manager I really woudl want to shake up the restauarant management - the girls serving at the tables are actually very friendly and charing - it is the management of it which is dire. Fancy letting a chef serve Rosa Gebratene...anything when it is grey and black? One other thing the rooms are not terribly well insulated. I was awakened by other guests at 4 am and the lift noise is tiresome. Unless oyu are on a cheap czech coach tour I realy woudl go somewhere else. Finally for those of us on a working trip expect to pay a huge sum for internet access. All part of the rip off mentality of the management.
