Really this was my first time in German therms and I really loved it. When you take it this means that you would be totally relaxed. Different types of showers, ice cold pool and real snow! Also needles to say that outdoor pool with a fantastic view was very good.

This Thermal Spa complex is truly and utterly amazing, exceeding all our expectations. It's big, not overcrowded and amazingly well thought out by the architects, featuring luxuries like all-round floor heating! Surrounded by the Alps while even small kids are perfectly catered for. Five stars, really. One of those hidden treasures not yet discovered 'en masse'.

When you enter, you get a wrist band with a chip that give you access to the pools, access to complimentary lockers and serves as a credit card when buying food at the pool restaurants. Clever, really. Trust the Germans.

There is the family pool and the thermal pool, I recommend you buy a ticket that includes access to both. The family pool was extremely clean with a really cool long slide that the kids loved, you can use it with or without a raft. Plenty of sun loungers and the food in the (wet) restaurant was very reasonably priced, delicious and well presented (around euro 4 for a big bowl of Goulash soup). Just outside there are stairs that lead to an underground cave pool that has the same salt content as the Dead Sea, so you can literally float and relax. Just next to it was the beautiful steam room, built like a cave with relaxing lighting. My two year old LOVED the kid's wet play area and the kid's pool. He rarely plays on his own, but here we had trouble getting him out.

The Thermal Spa on the other side was just as nice or even better, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, especially the outside part of the Spa was an experience not easily forgotten (seeing the water vapour rising up while it was snowing was fun).

Everyone came out truly satisfied and feeling renewed, and we decided to make a second visit that same week. Highly recommended.

I expect I'm easily impressed because I haven't been to a real spa before, but I was amazed by this place. It's very close to Salzburg, in the most gorgeous setting you can imagine. The sparkling clean Rupertus Therme features I don't know how many salt pools at various temperatures and levels of salinity. (There's also a cold-water pool you can hop into after the hot pool, and let me tell you, it provides a real shock to the system.) In the salt grotto, which reminds me a little of a sensory deprivation tank, the salinity is so high that you have to hang on to a ledge at the side of the pool to keep from bobbing off into the middle of the pool. It's a bit kitschy--piped-in music, lava-lamp-type imagery on the "cave" walls--but it's totally relaxing if you just close your eyes and float. Nobody seemed to want to leave the place. The steam cave is very dramatic--pretty much can't see a thing except for little floor lights. My favorite part, though, was the big outdoor pool. It's really something to swim or float leisurely through steaming-hot salt water and gaze up at the gorgeous snowy Alps rising above you. Deluxe.
