We had a real problem at this cafe. There was some confusion at first over the ordering system, fully owing to our lack of German and unfamiliarity with the system. One of us was given a cake as takeaway instead of eat-in, and paid for such. When this was corrected, we were told to order instead from the waitress outside - no refund or price adjustment was made and the waitress wasn't told we'd already paid some money. We waited ages for service, even after going back in to chase it. When it came, and the order finally arrived, the waitress banged the plates down and then got angry when we tried to explain one had been partially paid for. This included snatching the receipt out of my hand and then storming off to shout at the staff inside. All problems like this can easily be solved with some goodwill and thought, but the staff showed no ability to cope with the problem and one in particular was incredibly rude and aggressive. The place was empty as well. We gave up and left.

Select your cake or other pastry on the first floor. Then ascend via the lovely staircase to the second floor to await your pastry and order your beverage. Sit as close to the window as possible to enjoy the view of the plaza below. Pretty setting with nice tablecloths and small vases of flower - typically German. I visited Cafe Konigsbau over thirty years ago in the mid 1980's and even today it still has the charm I remembered.

It is a Cafe with long lasting tradition and a very good meeting point to enjoy coffee or tea and great selection of cakes and icecreame.
You can sit inside for a business meeting or outside to see people pass by.

This cafe has a great spot across from Schlossplatz, and is surprisingly large. They have beautiful desserts. My complaint is that they did not have an English menu, and the two waitresses did not seem to speak a word of English either! So it limited my menu options a lot, not knowing what 90% of the items were. But I enjoyed my dessert and green tea thoroughly.
