“Great view and free !”
Review of Bahnhofsturm

Bahnhofsturm
Reviewed July 10, 2012

This is one of Stuttgart's less well known attractions. Whilst not as high as the TV tower, it is much more central and gives some splendid views of the city centre area.

It's worth a visit when simply changing trains in Stuttgart, or as a destination in its own right.

The (necessary) safety 'cage' spoils the open air experience a little.

This is a free attraction!

I didn't even know you could go up the station tower, but I was SO impressed by the bold, confident, utterly imposing architecture of this building when I visited in early January 2012.
Standing across the road looking is one thing - when you enter through the subway and come up the stairs a vast airy height towers above you. See it now before it gets knocked about and turned into a through station.
If only I'd known about the tower!

Most people will visit Stuttgart and pass through the main train station and never realize the Train Station Tower is free and only about a 15 minute diversion while waiting for a rail connection or just getting orientated in Stuttgart. Elevator to the top and the view down the Konigstrasse and the large train station below is great. If you have time or interest you can see the exhibition on Stuttgart 21 which presently is very controversial with many pro and con view points the pro view point is in the tower and at the other end of the train station is the con. Also interesting culturally for Americans or non-Germans how two view points express themselves. Bottom line well worth the time to see the surrounding area.
