I have been a customer for many years. The restaurant has had its ups and downs, but has been very good for the last decade at the very least.
If you arrive by car, you'll probably enter via the AGIP gas station. Don't worry--the restaurant is another world altogether.
Pizza, pasta, fish, meat--everything is the way it would be at a good eatery in Italy. The pizza menu has unfortunately become more staid, but there are still a few specialties you will not find elsewhere, and the thin crust and the handmade quality are unique in Stuttgart. The pasta is always al dente. The meat and the fish are somewhat pricey, but definitely worth it. And always check today's specials--handwritten on a piece of paper just beyond the front cover of the menu.
The wines are always good, and the house wines are a good value.
In the summer, you can sit outside, with a nice view onto the park-like campus of the University of Stuttgart. Inside, one part is more casual, the other features white tablecloths, but both offer the same good food.
You can park at the Katharinenhospital garage, located next to the AGIP gas station--the first two hours are free if you validate your ticket at the restaurant.
