Schloss Mannheim is a huge building in Mannheim city center, it was used to be a residential place back in 1600s. Not much to see there, while it's now used for University Mannheim.
I once visited the Schloss and went inside to see around, I found it's such cool place, the local office, put good care to preserve the old furnitures.

I was very impressed with this castle. It is not the original but was built closely along the style of the orginal. The self-guided tour with the recording was very good and facilitated a very nice learning experience. The displays with the narrative provided several gems of historical knowledge. The rooms were beautiful providing an aesthetically pleasing backdrop to the learning experience. I would highly recommend visiting this castle.

If you want to see a fully restored baroque castle, go to Mannheim (it is also the longest castle in Europe). It houses now the University of Mannheim, has a nice museum, nice walks, several museums are nearby AND if you want to do some shopping, Mannheim is a good place

Take the guided tour and enjoy a trip back in history. Absolutely magnificent. It's located 10 minutes from the train station and is flanked by the University. Spend an hour or two then enjoy a coffee at the student's cafe in the University court yard

if you've ever been to a read medieval castle - there is nothing for you to see and admire there. It was a Schlossfest that we walked there free but in vain, as, to my mind, there's nothing worth observing there - a couple of rooms, some authentic furniture left, nothing special at all..
