Leonardo Hotel Mannheim City Center

There is nothing really wrong with this hotel. It is conveniently located in the centre of Mannheim, the staff is friendly, the room is fairly spacious, the bed large, the bathroom, well, has seen some renovations already, but is clean and functional (If you disregard one odd detail: If you want to use the toilet, you need to first get the towel holder out of your way, which has been squeezed between the washbasin and the toilet).

Yet, there is something missing to make it a very good hotel: style. The building is faceless, the lobby is what designers in the 80ies then thought would please business travels, same with the artwork on the corridors and the room interiors themselves. It is a continuous chain of solid non-style. What's missing is a "lovemark". Something typical, something that would make this hotel stick out from the rest.

This hotel is located in very central location, it was hard to find with the GPS.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly, but the hotel is showing it's age and really needs a makeover. The internet and also the parking are really overpriced.

The rooms were clean but small and need to be upgraded, this hotel has a very tiny pool maybe good for young children but not for getting exercise it also needs a makeover

Other than the central location I wouldn't stay at this hotel again

Well situated in Mannheim, just a ten minute walk from the main transport interchange. Good spacious rooms with comfortable beds and excellent climate control. Breakfast was everything you would expect of a top German hotel with a huge choice of hot and cold food available. Bisto Bar for evening meals with limited menu but plenty of eating places nearby. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful and all spoke excellent English.

We booked 2queen size beds ,very comfy and clean. The room was fresh and very warm with good coffee/tea facilities The shower was hot and they supply shower gel and hand wash. We found the staff polite and extremely helpful. We needed documents printing and the 2 female receptionists were so helpful .The staff are approachable and pleasant. The location is ideal ,we found it so easy to get around. I usually stay in the Hilton chain but would not hesitate to recommend this hotel on arrival we were given 2 key cards

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor near the street,we slept fine hardly any noise

Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Room was OK, although a little dated. Breakfast was good with lots on offer. Thought wifi quite expensive. Nice having free minibar items. Free TV options for English speakers limited.

Nice location downtown with a city parking garage underneath it. Overall a nice looking hotel. Several gripes: only one key card for my family of 4. The "individual climate control" for our room was not. Turning the thermastat did not affect the temperature, which was way too warm. They offered us a one little fan which helped a little but it was 91 degrees outside. Not cool. They splash page online advertises wifi in the rooms, but you have to look more carefully to find out they charge you €10-13 per day for it. The "heated" indoor swimming pool is kept at a lap pool temperature -- too cold for most American kids to want to play in it, but typical for Germany.
The one thing I would say was impressive was their breakfast buffet. Kids eat free, adults only €15, with full cooked breakfast, nice fresh pastries, fruit, & standard European breakfast fare. All in a nice indoor or quite pretty outdoor upper deck terrace. What a steal!! I'd come back for the breakfast but would try somewhere to stay the next time.

This Hotel situated above shops in the main city centre was full the weekend I stayed there as the German F1 Grand Prix was being held at nearby Hockenheim. The Hotel Reception is on the first floor and it is not immediately obvious that the escalators at the entrance take you there and I went thru the doors and up in the lift which was a pain with 3 bags. Reception staff were apologetic that due to F1 and coach tours the hotel was full and they could not do me upgrade me as a platinum priority club member to a better room. After carrying you bags up 4 or 5 stairs the lifts are reached and the room was found. The room was clean with good bathroom and the windows opened onto the side hotel onto the street where many cafes have pavement terraces, (thank you HI Mannheim for still having windows that open).
The bar staff were attentive and spent some time explaining and pouring samples of the different draft beers so that I could find one that I liked. The menu in the bar was good with a sensible number of choices. While I was there was a Mushroom theme on and there were an additional 6 vegetarian options. The walk to the station took just over 10 mins and the train to Hockenheim was easily reached, en route there were a number of café serving pastries and was tempted to stop off.
All in all I would stay here again if visiting the area or for the F1
