Great park with very nice plants and arrangements, nice pond. I don't want to pay when going to a park though, otherwise it would be perfect.

Freizeit house is wonderful. Love the Schmetterlinghaus. Little too humid for people with poor circulation, though. Don't stay in there if you have this problem. They also have a tropical green house, so you can see banana trees in there, among other things, like birds and little apes (makaken?) There is a lake where pelicans reside and there are various birds in voliaries. And lots of playgrounds in diverse areas of the park, so that the kids will never be bored. Especially if they are little - you could go to a different one every day! And of course there are two or three restaurants and various kiosks, so you won't go hungry. Just bring your pockebook!
P.S. Get annual tickets if you go frequently or plan to go more than seven times in a year - you will save a bundle!

this park is the best park in Germany. lots of flowers, good place to eat and very Family Friendly. if you are out of town and wish to visit the park and wish to park, no worry plenty of parking and the entrance fee is also family friendly. Kids will have fun visit ting the animal park and be able to take a small boat trip. Take a chance and you will not regret iy

Others have described well some of the attractions at Luisenpark. Just want to endorse all that's been written. This place is well worth a visit if you're in Mannheim or Heidelberg. Give it at least half a day. From Heidelberg take the number 5 tram to Fernmeldeturm (about 30 mins) which is directly below the huge telecommunications tower. By the way route 5 must be the longest tram route in the world as the round trip takes over 2 hours, some of it in open country. From Heidelberg go via Mannheim rather than Weinheim. My favourite attraction was the listening garden where beautiful classical music seemingly comes out of the trees for the benefit of patrons seated on deck chairs. A very large 'ear' marks the spot. So it's not just a zoo, not just a children's park, not just gardens, but all of these and more.

We reached this park through well-maintained public gardens with wide open spaces and well-established trees. We then paid our euros 6 each to explore the Louisenpark itself. This is a cross between a botanical garden and a small zoo. Stables accommodated a HUGE pig and some cuddly-looking sheep and goats. Aviaries contained an assortment of exotic birds (some with double-jointed knees), ponds had ducks, swans with unusual colourings and one aviary was topped by its very own storks' nest (although one stork clearly preferred perching on the top of a lamp post instead). The Pfalzer Weinstube provided an excellent lunch (succulent, ultra-tender beed cheeks) as well as a choice of local specialities of the sausage and dumplings variety). Yellow-roofed provided boating opportunities on a large lake.
